<laughing> Ok Blake, so you can admit to playing around with me... your above post, but I do the same, admit playing a game with you and you become a sore loser, so to speak? Nice and yes, it was an apology for playing, never heard one regarding your admitted playing around.

Admin: For the record I notice that you only respond to or PULL from the thread those posts that are offensive to you or your position. I could use seanp's post as an example.... no admonishment there. Which is fine since he's talking about things he doesn't actually understand anyway. I know a few wannabe's in the military who are like that. Hey dude, don't confuse being in a combat zone with participating in combat..lol.
As far as the coward comment ... etc..etc... that was made under my lance screen name (Hyde) vs. this screen name (Jeckel). Like I said, I was simply pushing his buttons.. which I apologized for.
Enough said.

Ah... forgot to add one comment from your above post Blake. I realize that people don't like being toyed with. People also don't like being singled out and made an example of unfairly. Action/reaction.

OH58Rider - Obviously you don't understand English.
I never claimed to have experience as an infantryman. I do, however, have experience in aviation. As a matter of fact, I used to fly in the old 58A/C's. But I was medically grounded five years ago. And thank God I'm not some warrant officer with no skills other than flying, which I almost was. If so, I'd have been up the creek. So, once again, you're jumping to conclusions, thinking I have no experience in aviation.
I'm not confusing "being in a combat zone" with "being in combat". Are you? The level of experience that can be counted as "combat" is all relative. There's some guys who were in Kuwait who thought they were in combat. There were people at BIAP who thought they were in combat. But when it comes right down to it, the only people that have any right to call anyone names due to their lack of participation in "combat" are the grunts on the ground. I am not one, so I won't call anyone names. But if I were one, and I spent a year and more patrolling, getting hit with IED's, and shooting on the two-way firing range, I'd call pretty much anyone who wasn't infantry a "coward". The only people I fully respect for being in combat are the guys who are actively engaged with the enemy, and the ones who don't whine about it all the time, or expect special treatment or compensation.
So how many hours did you fly? How many times were you shot at by RPG's? Where did you fly out of? And how long were you on the ground in Iraq? I'm just trying to find out so I can understand the level of experience that you're coming from.
One of my best friends is an infantryman in Tikrit. I respect him more than I respect most people in this world and this Army, because he actually puts his life on the line every day for his ideals and the ideals of his country. And he doesn't expect anything more than to lead his men, get his base pay, and try to get some sleep at night and maybe an MRE that he likes. And his number one goal is making sure that his guys stay alive, followed closely by making sure they accomplish their mission. He's not out for glory, or awards, or more pay, or anything like that.
And, like I also said, I am not in a dangerous job. Did you read that part? I do commo stuff. It's pretty easy. I don't do a whole lot here that I didn't do back in the US. I don't "wannabe" anything other than what I am. I'm completely secure in my position in life, and my life is outstanding. I've got a great family, a stellar future, and great friends. If I died tomorrow, I'd feel that I've accomplished quite a lot in this life. Hopefully that doesn't happen... But I don't have to act like Billy Bad-•••, and put other folks down to make myself feel better. I am no bad-•••, and will be the first to admit it. I am, however, a professional.
So what things have I talked about that I don't actually understand?
And even if you were just kidding about the coward comment, or pushing his buttons, or whatever, it's still unprofessional, and reflects poorly on the entire military establishment. That disgusts me beyond belief. You might just as well join those soldiers who tortured the Iraqi prisoners.  |

Fortunately for me, I have the final say in the matter. I'm sorry you refuse to understand the situation and my point of view. No problem, Henrik. I hate to admit it, but the guy did push my buttons. I despise soldiers who are unprofessional, in whatever way. Those soldiers who tortured the Iraqis, the LT who made the Democratic committee's radio speech the other day, and this guy, calling Blake a coward, just because he happened to be back in the US during the war in Iraq. Hell, for all he knows, Blake could be a Somalia, Desert Storm, Panama, Grenada, Vietnam, Korea, or World War II veteran, Congressional Medal of Honor winner, and former Special Forces or something. Snap judgments are rarely accurate, especially over the internet.
The good thing is that I don't have much excitement in my life, (like I said, I have a pretty boring job, and Al Kut is quiet, thank God) so this gave me something to get fired up about. And I'd much prefer to get fired up about this than about incoming mortars or IED's, like in Baghdad.  |
