well two weeks back i road to visit friends that were holidaying near where i live. parked M2 outside on footpath. was there all day and it rained. when i went to ride it home noticed indicator lights not working but everything else working fine. i put it away when i got home covering it with about 6 layers of old rugs & putting cotton rag up the exhaust pipe. then other day road it 60 mile with a friend. indicator lights still not working. any idea's? | ||

You mean turn signals? Suspect the turn signal relay under the seat. cheap part at the auto parts store. | ||

Could also be the connector from the instruments lights ,standing in the rain all day everything gets pretty soaked! | ||

Thank's B in B will check. Ducxl LOL the bike runs perfect always fires up quick, have the tune what i think is perfect as no flat spots not like it was when first got it. only problem has been turn signals when it rains. ( i rarely wash as i keep it inside covered with sheets of cotton i live across road from a beach. no rust at all. want to get turn signals right as . about to pull motor & gear box apart to rebuild completely fit Axtell 88" my friend can resize cases as has bridgeport mill and does a lot of Harley Big twin & sportster cases & bottom ends. i will also get a guy i have used before to set up forks & stock rear M2 L race tech springs & gold valves in front. but the rest will just look stock stock original paint will do bottom end and change balance factor to 52% as have used that balance factor on older HD's before , the Twin Cam now use that also i have Corrillo XL rods that are longer than stock. would buy a new bike but love this one. just want more Torque | ||

I washed my bike last year a little too aggressively, after that the bike would turn over but not start. I started unplugging all the connector, relays and fuses and blowing them out with compressed air. I was amazed how much water came out of everything. I think these bike don't like water. Anyway it finally fired on the front cylinder, replaced the rear fouled plug and viola, it ran again. I would go through the bike and clean and check all connectors, switches, relays and fuse panels. I use WD-40 for switches and contact clearer for plugs. Blow everything out. I am heading to work, but will pull out the schematic when I get home. Hope this helps. | ||

I had turn signal problems when I got my bike. I think in general, if it's 1 signal not working, it's a problem with that individual signal. If it's one side of the bike not working, it's the handlebar control. If none of them are working, it's probably the signal relay. When I had my problem, it was the handlebar control not making contact. I pulled the whole thing apart, cleaned it out with electrical parts cleaner and put it back together with some dielectric grease and it's been fine since. I also replaced my relay with a new one I already had just so I knew it was done. | ||

Well still have not fixed turn signal not working, put new relay but did not fix it, took switch off the bar, am getting power in ok but when i tun on turn switch left or right, no power going out. as i said i'm not good at electric's. but i fired motor up bike starts and runs fine. any idea's? i would change out switch but what can i use? thanks for any help | ||

My battery kept going flat, had to disconnect after every ride. Went on for weeks. Lots of effort went in, final solution,I used a compressed air nozzle into the wiring harness by the steering head.Enough water to make a cup of brew blew out the other end of that harness. Had a liter of water in the fuel tank too. The seal on the tank cap was perished. | ||

thanks, i will check, but i've never had battery problems or water in tank as motor runs strong water in fuel would show up when riding. i never wash this bike i just clean with wd40 n rag or waterless wash spray also keep bike covered in about five layers of cotton sheets n doona's in garage. has 100,000k up. but will check that out as possible. | ||

If you have power to the switch, but no power out - Try checking ohms from the internal switch contact to either turn signal wire. If you do have a circuit, then the switch is the issue. Given the commonality of various bits on our bikes, something out there should work as a replacement. | ||

took whole switch block off left side handle bar unplugged. tool to jap bike shop to see if universal switch. but they said would need to get same from Buell as includes plug in whole switch block from left side , does not look like the turn switch can be removed to replace on it's own. anyone know if can still buy? | ||

The first switch is for the 1997 - 1998 and that hole should have a cover on it. The Buell-M2-Cyclone-Left-Hand -Controls-/222157006596 is for the 1999 and later tubers. Have not researched enough to know if either can be used. | ||

Ha Alf, i don't like riding in bad weather if i can avoid . i think the name relates to the model names of Buell's but you know that. now i'm looking at an 03 sportster but Buell stays with me for ever!! only looking for sportster to do the 88" big bore to as think easier to drag race the Buell a bit on high side but love riding it. |
