I have a 2000 m2 cyclone with a 14.7" shock . I'm looking to lower it an inch. Would anyone have a lowering bracket or a used west tek bracket? | ||

You could use the 16.5" front bracket with the 14.7" shock. That will lower it for sure.  | ||

And lowering the back without lowering the front will screw up your geometry and make it handle like poo...possibly dangerously. If you're going to lower the rear...you need to lower the front the same amount. | ||

From what I gathered, the westek bracket only was effective with the original / pre-recall shock or something. It's kind of a red herring now. I lowered mine by using the M2Low shock and raising the fork tubes to match - that being possible because the previous owner just happened to put bar risers on it. Not much room to raise them otherwise. Will want to seek out the M2Low sidestand as well if you do this. I only gained about a half inch drop, but I consider it worth it. I converted my M2L to X1 (normal height) suspension years ago. Never swapped the sidestand. If someone doing the swap wants to exchange sidestands - my low for their normal - and buy my complete L front end (trees, stem, forks, pinch bolts, Volcano Gray fender, all 1600 mile parts)...send me a PM. Parts are in MD; be nice not to ship, but I can box and mail if needed. Sorry, sold the rear shock mount years ago. All I have is the front end. | ||

the west tek mount should work on any shock... its the same as the factory mount except made of aluminum and the location of the shock mount hole is slightly moved from factory location. When i say will work with any shock, i mean, if you have the 16.5" shock, you need the west tek 16.5" mount, and if you have the (14.5 or 14.7") shock, you need the west tek bracket for that. With that said, i dont know if west tek ever made a lowering mount for the shorter shock as i have never seen one. I did own a 16.5" west tek lowering mount for a while and and ran it on my bike with my adjustable penske and XB Scg lowered forks. I also did use a M2L kickstand on my X1, which i was going to sell but have held onto it cause i am thinking of now lowering my new 1125CR forks and may be installing it again. | ||

I lowered my M2 with an altered front mount as shown below-  It probably lowered the bike 1-1/2 inches, which I dearly love, but it has also made the pegs more prone to scraping on turns, and shock travel at the rear is not great. I have to stand up on the pegs if I see a big dip coming up so that the wheel doesn't chirp against the oil tank. EDIT- I should add this was professionally TIG welded for $45. I drilled the new holes into 1/4 inch thick mild steel from Home Depot. (Message edited by h0gwash on February 20, 2017) | ||

Hi I have a west teK lowering bracket taking up space in my bike shed , I was planning on using it to actually raise the bike ( don't ask ) but got an AST rear shock instead , so it's surplus to requirements , its a little bit scruffy but otherwise in good condition , offers anyone ? including shipping. |
