Rick... I really don't have use for a 96 frame. But I'd be more than willing to sell the kit to the whomever buys the frame. Dennis |

Sent some photos of the S2 to the original owner along with another plea to part with the kit. I told him he can keep the personalized letter. I really just want the certificate and timing cover. We'll see if he changes his mind down the line. I don't blame him for being a little "standoff-ish". I was random stranger calling his house to talk about an old motorcycle. That seems a little creepy to me also. But I had to take the chance to get the kit. (Message edited by lake_bueller on January 03, 2017) |

Rtlll / Lake_bueller, Sorry to say, I don't think you have a match..... The "gray" frame is definitely a 1996 S2T (#140 of 398) Signature Kit 96S249140/200 would be for a 1996 S2 (#140 of 200) - otherwise it would have the "T" in the number |

Just thought about this but I bought a 95 S2 engine from Ross "Phelen" in 2010, it is #814. He had issues with the bike and was parting it. |

Lance posted: “He's a customer of ours but I did mine in 1996-1997, he stated his later then that.” Hummm….That might be true depending on which of my bikes your referring to. Actually Lance, Two of my first one-piece bodied S2’s, of which one was solo with signals in the vents were at the 1996 Homecoming in late May or early June of that year. They were conceived and built the late 95 though spring of 96. Brankin (1313) might remember since I believe he was there at that homecoming and knows the current owner of the bikes and my work.
Very early in 1997 we started a third, highly modified Gen-2 one-piece solo body with internal signals & duel projector beam headlights using Henry Duga supplied race program body parts. Molds were made of my tail section for use on that project and others including a ST. Paul HD race bike. After many delays due Kevin’s (Kmbuell) move to NC and my commitment to other projects at the time, that bike (the Orange one) was not finished until late 1999.
By the way, I remember seeing your bike back around the time you mention, but do not recall it having a seamless body and projector beams at that time. I know I have pics of the bike you posted from back then around here somewhere, but I have not had time to find them yet. What I don’t recall is seeing any one-piece body at that time that did not come out of my shop until now. Were some of those mods made later and the bike repainted? If I find the pics I took back then, I will post them later. (Message edited by D_bag on January 05, 2017) |

I remember when those 2 S2's appeared and it was awesome . . . fun to see lots of old pals in that pic too . . including Josh. The body work, the concept, was impressive . . but the biggest thing I recall was that the craftsmanship was simply elegant. |

Brankin (1313) might remember since I believe he was there at that homecoming and knows the current owner of the bikes and my work. That is all accurate. But, man, do I remember... I had formulated my plans to make a solo seat tail section for my S2 as a winter project after buying it in June of 1995. An Engineer started at Buell and moved into a house that had excess garage space, which I was able to rent to be able to do the fiberglass and paint work. Since I had no prior experience with anything so ambitious with glass, nor did I have the patience (or skill) for painting, I enlisted the help of one of the Buell R&D glass guys. Of course, the project took longer than expected - which in turn leads to some other interesting stories - and the R&D glass guy that was helping me and I met at the rented garage to complete my S2 the morning of the 1996 Homecoming. Nothing like coming down to the last minute, huh? Once roadworthy, I jump on my S2 and ride over to the other side of East Troy, turn down Buell drive, come to the entrance to Buell's parking lot, turn in and the first thing I see/notice are 2 wildly custom painted S2's - and one was a solo seat! After all the time invested, the last minute thrash to be able to make it to Homecoming with my customized S2, and then arriving and seeing someone else had done something so close to what I had done, my emotions turned sour and I just wanted to toss my S2 on the ground and stomp away dejected. At first, anyways... I guess I realized that he lack of sleep had clouded my judgment and I proudly rode my S2 into the parking lot, parked it and started enjoying the event. I loved your idea of glassing the tank cover and tail together, but my thought was that I wanted to retain the ability of carrying a passenger I couldn't do something so drastic. We painted a second tail section (for a standard S2 seat, but with the turn signals 'flushed' into the vents like my solo tail) to match the paint on the rest of the bike to meet this goal. I must comment that Rickie's craftsmanship, as Court notes, truly is elegant! I've seen some very nice modified Buell's in Germany - where modified Buell's are the rule and not the exception - and most of them do not stand up to Rickie's work. Most of the German Buell's are 'customized' with aftermarket parts, while only a handful are actually customized with owner created parts (like my German buddy Frank's 2 X1's are). To not only have the vision, but also the ability to do what is necessary to realize that vision, is very impressive! Sorry for my trip down memory lane - and sorry it had to wait until I got back from vacation - but I think it had to be noted, 1313 |

Just have two. Old Red and Denny's. I had it already at the time we met in Colorado. Now with T-storm heads and a Penski shock. Haven't finished the fork rebuild yet but it may be running by the end of the week if I can stay off here and Facebook. |

Guys, Scott has turned the list over to me. I have it, but I'm sorry to say its pretty rough. I need to rebuild from scratch to see if we can have meaningful, at least in my opinion. This is not a knock against Scott or Frank, or whoever had it before them. It just needs some tuning. Lots of incorrect info. I may ping everyone on the list to see if they still have the bike, or know where it is. My idea is that we need the complete VIN, as Buell used two sequences in '95. That means that there are two of many numbers. I'd like to make it public to view, but not to change. Please send me any updates at kmeath34@gmail.com. What do you all want to be able to see? I'm thinking public info is last 5 of vin, owners name, city, state, badweb handle. Color and mods will get interesting and long, but could be added. It would also be good to know about destroyed or scrapped bikes. Maybe they day will come where these are like Superbirds and Daytonas, where folks are pulling them from scrap heaps to rebuild! Let's all hope so. Thanks for all your patience! Kevin Meath |

Scott, I'm not picking, and I don't want to start a peeing contest. It's more of it's not what I think it should be and there is no way I would make this public as is. You guys did a great job collecting the information, my goal is to update and make it easily reachable for current and new owners. I'd like to have an owners progression. Who was the first owner, the second, etc, in addition to the above listed info. Again, thank you, you did good. Kevin |

Kevin, glad to hear your not peeing on me. As we spoke on the phone, the list is as complete as the info that was given. Most folks provided complete info to be entered . There a bunch that did not want to share. So I tracked by vin. The registry only reflects vins given, there are many still unaccounted for. At least you agree its not a public list in present state. Many ppl wanted it to be shared . I was not against that but didnt want to share personal info. The tough part is unless you reach out to see if an owner still has a particular blke you never know how accurate it is, someone emails I bought a bike .... I check to see if its on the list, if it is , I would update the info. If its not then ... nice its a new entry.....well thats it in a nut shell. Thanks for taking it to the next level Scott |
