I'm going with that speed triple green. I might tweak it a little bit. |

Are those Rizoma bar-end mirrors on your bike? Maybe when you get it all painted, Buell will give you a big Buell flag to hold when you ride and employ you as a traveling marketing agent. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?viewItem&item=4146756343#ebayphotohosting |

Make sure to use plenty of flex additive to the paint. Your ahead of me on this one. I don't think mine will see paint now until next winter. It should also be interesting if the black changes the color of the light green color your planning. I would think you will need to use some good light color primer/sealer. You might want to find out what color primer triumph uses under that green. |

I got the mirrors from American Sport Bike, crg's I dont think that the dupont chromabase needs any flex add. its a urethane base/clear thats supposed to be pretty bendy. I used it alot before but I have been retired from autobody/paint for the last 6 years.. edited by misato on April 30, 2004 |

That would be cool. I hate putting additives in paint. It always seems to be guesswork as to how it will react. |

That pic isn't even R. It's more like PG-13 if even that. That little devil emoticon is great though. |

Misato - Kevin's one heck of a painter in addition to being the designer of the Drummer. Check his website for some of his work. www.patmedia.net/haynesfam I'm having him paint my S bodywork to match my Porsche next week. |

So, while we're on the topic of painting the Surlyn bodywork, I've decided as of this weekend to go red with my 12r, but I'm not into the red that Buell used, and so I'm going with paint. Now I've searched this board and found lots of vague comments here and there on what will and will not work, but nothing concrete from people who've actually done it. With that said, is there anyone that has actual experience painting the Surlyn plastics and knowledge of what paints are viable options and what they're gonna run to paint a firebolt, paint cost alone(I'll be shooting it myself). I've read up on the Chroma Base that Misato is talking about, but I wanted to know what other choices I have before diggin in. Thanks guys! btw Misato, check out this link http://www.dupont.com/industrial-polymers/surlyn/sr_coatingguide.pdf |
