Rog...No way! It is one year older with a lot more miles than my X1 plus the guy that owns it is 26 and I have the gut feeling he may have abused it. God knows he wrung its neck last year trying to keep up with me and I don't push it in the straights. LOL Additionally, it is is stock, slower per MO and worth less per NADA and Kelly. Not my idea of a good trade. Then again, it sure does look good. Make it a 916 or better and I just may reconsider. Right now, the X1 does just what I want it to and between Hal's, Milwaukee Harley, All Pro Motorsports and DWD (Down with Dealers) I have all the technical support I need competing for my biz. Kind of a nice position to be in, eh? Now watch...With my luck, I will toast the X1 and wish I had traded. Hahaha!!! | ||

Not to sound parental, and not to imply that the poster in question was not an ass that handled things really badly, and not to imply that Court did not do the right thing.... But we could have done better if we had managed to overcome the guys low self esteem and fragile ego and had a reasonable dialog with him. This is not always easy, but is what we should strive for. We will have to nuke people periodically, not a big deal, but when it happens we should see it as a failure and not a victory... He no doubt deserved everything he got, but we did not do ourselves any favors by dropping to his level. Rather, we should try and lift people to ours. (step off soapbox)... | ||

I did the work myself and it took about 3hrs to horse it out & in. I just got done freshening up the top-end and find these bikes very easy & cheap to work on if you do it yourself. Please explain why you think this only applies to your Buell and not a Ducati shim job coz that's what those in the know are trying to tell ya - shimming a Duc at home is easy and for virtually no cost. Need assistance.I have a friend(yes,I really do)that is new to Buell and has an X-1,he is in need of the lock for the seat as the former owner put on an undertail and deleted this??I told him you folks would be glad to help(what was I thinking??) BTW,you all should be heading this way,this next week will be full of Buell/hooligan fun. .Friday morn .Gotta get my bike from Vallejo.Friday evening might hit the Black Diamond Brewpub in Walnut Creek as they are sponsoring sportbike night in conjunction with the races.Sat& sun at track.Saturday night I am thinking Cinco de Mayo night at Chevy's??Sunday night feast at AcidBurn's.Monday is Brag day at Vallejo,Battletrax,free dyno runs,monday night BRAG dinner.Tuesday morn I really have to make my union meeting as we are in the midst of negotiations,then ride.Weds ride to coast ,lunch at Tides,ride--- weather will be sunny and 80!! | ||

Since someone, in another thread asked....I'll cross post this here. Also, please do not feed the recently departed, lest they continue to hound me with foul mouthed e-mails opining that "others keep doing the same thing". Thanks Lance: I'll try to help a bit. I've been riding Buells for the better part of the last 20 years and have seen the tides come and go several times. Badweb evolved from a long history on Buell discussion sites, including the short lived "Official Factory Site" on www.buell.com. Badweb grew out of a small number of us who used to do group e-mails and sought an easier way, as the numbers grew, to enable anybody to participate who was willing to abide by the rules. Many of us work REAL jobs. Blake was in Japan doing an Earth Antenna for some secret space program when he started this, if I recall. I am a construction work and had taken a two-year sabbatical to work at the Buell factory in East Troy. As Badweb grew, in terms of numbers and geographic participation, we found the continuum of our membership growing wider and wider. As our numbers swelled, so too did the range of persona and behaviors that various folks found acceptable with various folks sitting beside them as they surfed the "net". My PERSONAL criteria are that I'd PREFER to participate REGULARLY in discussions that I need not fear my young kids (they are no longer young) reading. In fact, when I am asked to write for a magazine, business or motorcycle, my PERSONAL criteria is "if I wouldn't leave it on my coffee table at home or lobby table at work, no thank you". I'm no prude; that's just my criteria...loosely defined. (Yes, I've stretched it). As time passed some of the folks who'd become respected Badwebbers sought the freedom of looser tongues. Don't, for one minute, impute that these were not nice, good, smart and respectable guys who I call friends. They just wanted a different atmosphere...the very reason that Four Seasons did not drive Holiday Inn out of business. I used to periodically visit a couple other Buell sites and I'd take anyone to task that doubted Choptops smarts or Mike Palladino's passion for motorcycling. Back to center.... Badweb has set standards. Folks, who accept those standards, are welcome. I'm not sure we are right; that metric is fuzzy. We *TRY* to be tolerant and consistent. Several "old timers" have been temporarily squelched, calmed (their tone, not their beliefs) and welcomed back. I assure you both Greg (Dyna) and Sean (Rocket) are guys I disagree with on some things. I also really like both of them. Greg, in particular, has a much rougher "intersonna" than he shows in person. On some days I see him as a whiner, most days as a proud Grandfather, passionate motorcyclist and nice guy. I don't need to agree to like him. Ditto Rocket...who is as rough and unruly no matter where you find him but for the life of me, I know not why, has a certain appeal like hot candy. Both have shown their true meddle, when wrong, by sincerely apologizing. I'm no stranger to eating words myself. Any, I submit, appearance of discretionary application, is the result of those of us who serve in this role being saddled with work. I drive 2 hours to work in the morning, turned in 83 hours on a timesheet last week, and drive 2 hours home at night. Of the 10 busiest roads in the USA, I drive 6 of them through NYC twice daily...working till 11:00PM can be a blessing. I'll leave you with one final thought that is mine alone. I'm perfectly accepting of you saying, "Buell sucks". I can handle you calling me an "asshole". BUT...call one of the ladies here a "bitch", "slut" or "whore" and your ass is mine. Ditto similar remarks to males and racial remarks. In summary...nothing in the foregoing should lead you to believe I am a "church boy". I'm just a guy who has seen LOTS of internet sites come and go, have made some of my best friends here and am willing to abide by simple, understandable standards to protect that PRIVILEGE. This is not written tongue in cheek. I have just used my lunch to give you a serious answer to a serious question. I hope I've persuaded you and I hope you'll make the choice to continue participating. Court Canfield | ||

Does that work?! I recently fouled my plugs and the only way I got my M2 started was to yank the plugs, clean them up, crank the engine to blow out any fuel and put it all back together. (I learned this method by having to repeatedly perform it on my old 1981 rotary rx-7. Damn things flood easily in cold weather.) It started right up after that but it's a little time consuming compared to your WOT method. -Jeff | ||

Copied this one from MC USA: Ridin' home from work, 39 miles of bein' whipped by 30 mph headwinds, 1/2 mile of hard packed dirt to go. Stretched out across the road is a 5' gopher snake. I park the bike and go over to nudge the critter into the bushes. Usually they slither off (to be run over another day). This dude rares up like a cobra and starts hissin' and strikin'. He gets my boot twice, then takes off in the bikes direction. He slithers under the front tire, up and over the voltage reg, inbetween the header pipe and front head, over the rear header and holes up under the battery against the oil tank. spent the next twenty minutes pokin' at and gettin' bit by this beligerant hatband. Finally gave up walked home, got the wife and kids to come see the snake that jacked my bike. |
