I have been surprised at the restrictions there are on knife carry. "A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed." I 've said it before, "Arms" does not refer exclusively to fire arms. At the time of the founding fathers edged weapons were a primary form of armament. This needs to be addressed. G | ||

I can keep the SOCP in my hand with some pistols and AR. But, with the 1911, my hand just doesn't the length to secure both and provide a sure enough purchase on the 1911 for me. | ||

Ourdee, is yours double stack? My Kimber 1911 is a single stack number. I like it, but I feel naked only carrying 8 rounds, so I never carry it. Come to think of it I haven't even tried it with the socp. Need to do that when i get home. | ||

If I want a gun & a knife at the same time I want a long gun that doubles as a short pike. Not an aluminum & plastic weapon that can't butt stroke. SKS, AK, FAL, ETC. But that's because that is my training. Ymmv. There's also the old saying that a hand gun is for taking a long gun. You should be using the other guy's weapons by the time you need to reload. Real world the odds are you don't have time for that. But if you're at the mall and the loud noises & screams begin with some fellow shouting in Arabic how great his god is, you use what you got or can pick up. The Kimber single stack is a better choice than the Ping #3 driver, but you run what you got. Then you use his AK to take down the rest by the time the SWAT team reviews it's "be polite to Islamic murderers" protocol. Depends on circumstances. Today, a fellow service member showed me a video, on facebook, of ISIS's latest recruiting video (question number 1 - how is distributing ISIS recruiting material NOT aiding and abetting!?) I will not post the video as I am 100% opposed to media publication of anything that could legitimize or in any way promote ISIS, or any islamist terrorists. It shows a team of 10-12 year old boys, armed with pistols, clearing a multi-story structure. In this structure are ISIS's prisoners, handcuffed, running trying to get away. The boys clear the structure, engage some targets, and then start executing the prisoners. As is SOP for any combat arms soldier who has spent a substantial amount of time practicing and teaching CQB, the first thing I noticed was that their tactics were decent but they definitely needed some work. Then the video suddenly became much more intense. It is extremely graphic. You can see the bullets penetrating the bodies and heads, the hemorrhaging; the cameras zoom in as blood pours from the bullet wounds. I've seen that in real life, and I'm telling you, I don't know how they could have faked that - I believe it's real. I did not finish watching the video; I shut it off halfway through. Prior to my friend showing me the video, he warned me how much it disturbed him. He has seen even more combat than I have. It had the same effect on me. I was angry for about 2 hours, and I am still frustrated. I feel like I should go do something about it. Right now. Not that I can, and that's the frustrating part. As I said, I've seen this stuff in real life, so I didn't think it would bother me that much. But seeing adolescent boys not only brainwashed, but killing with no conscience (or rather, a totally perverted conscience that leads them to believe that what they're doing is a good thing). That is what bothered me the most. Those boys are the same age as my son. And, in a firefight, some poor operator would have to make the moral decision to neutralize them. I pray I never find myself in that situation, and I pity any man who ever does. As a caveat, that reiterates my opinion that "women and children" who are so-called "refugees" from these cradles of islamism, should not be allowed to enter the US, without some SERIOUS vetting. | ||

I read up on Saudi part of the Refugee crisis. In short, the narrative that they haven't done much of anything is not true. They are not part of the Refugee agreement / treaty or whatever you call it that was signed in the 50's. Because of that most of the refugees that they take in are not reported as Refugees. I've seen numbers as low as 500K but they claim they have taken in 2.5M. That said, there are a bunch of other "rich" Arab countries that have refused refugees and instead chose to "donate" money. | ||

Sorry, I lost track of this thread and didn't reply. Torquehd, Single stack. I carry magazines. Gregtonn, If I have both in my hand at the same time, it means I was caught short. That I had to use the SOCP to make enough room to get the pistol out and use it without wasting time to drop the knife. My son in the service expressed interest in a SOCP. So, it has been donated to a worthy cause. The first line of defense is awareness. | ||
