Some pics from my recent trip through Colorado and Utah

Hooked up with a friend in Delores, and rode up to Telluride, then west to Montecello, Utah.

He headed back to Colorado, and we headed south to the valley of the Gods, then up Moki Dugway

That evening, we stopped, and remote camped in Fry Canyon at the edge of a dry wash.
Beautiful spot, quiet, and peaceful. The sun was setting as we set up camp.

Did some hiking and found these Petroglyphs

Morning sunrise was gorgeous

We continued on north, and west, over the Colorado river, past Hite marina, and capital reef state park.

camped in Podunk, unknown, can't remember, etc...

Next morning, headed to Zion to meet some other Teneristas ; )

of course, we had to stock up on supplies when we got there. Utah has some strange laws regarding alcohol...

let the party begin : )

Nice sunrise the next day, followed by rain : (

We packed up and headed home, the second day of rain. No sense hanging out in the Utah mud...

It finally cleared up by the time we gassed up near Page, but started raining again when we got close to 4 corners...

bad shifting between 2nd and 3rd would have required splitting the cases.
with 85,000 neglected miles on the engine, I opted for an '05 xb9sx engine with 4700 miles.
also picked up the pulleys and belt, which is why I now have an '03 belt for you ; )

I see... Do you have any other take off parts? I have a guy in Deming who has an '05 or '06 9S and it's rough. He needs a new airbox, airbox cover, front fender, belt guards, timing cover, oil cooler scoop, etc. He's not looking for free but cheap would would be helpful.

Yeah, so for those that don't know...

I recently traded in my 2009 Buell XB12XT Ulysses for a new 2016 Yamaha Super Tenere. I got it the first week of March and have so far put about 1250 miles on it, mostly local. I did do one day ride down to the Carrizozo area, but that's as far as I've taken it. I'm getting ready to install my GPS onto the Yamaha. I previously had it on my Uly. Once that is done, I plan to bang out at least one Iron Butt. This Tour of Honor is interesting. Where did you find all that?

Also, I sold my 2013 KTM 690 Enduro R and bought a 2016 Husqvarna FE450 Enduro. It's a pretty solid little bike and is ideal for the tight single track that I've been riding quite a bit of lately. The dirt bikes are really one of my favorite things lately. The full body workout alone is worth it. I've been working to lose some weight, improve my skills, etc. Good times!

We need to get together and go for a ride. I have not ridden the High Road in a dog's age. My work schedule is pretty hectic coming up, too. I have Ruidoso this weekend, Red River the following weekend (Memorial Day) and then I get a week that is pretty open. I leave for ten days in Ireland on June 8th. After that, I get a few weeks of "normal" schedule before heading to Sturgis again in late July for a few weeks.

Let me know what you guys have going on for rides. I try to take off Sundays and Mondays. My number is: five-oh-five, four fifty, 27 hundred. Ping me and let's ride!

NM434 - the narrow road between Coyote State Park and Black Lake... has been stripped of its asphalt and widened...all gravel for about 5-6 miles. Who knew? The NM Roads web site indicates construction but nothing about the major work being done there. I ran out of pavement today...

That last one reminds me of the time I trailed three NC state patrolmen down the Blue Ridge Parkway for about a hundred miles. They were all spit and polished on their new BMW oil heads, never exceeding the meager 45 mph speed limit.

That rolling road block I pulled up behind continued on into Albuquerque, and finally got off at the I-25 interchange, about 10 miles I had to follow them, that was more than enough...
