I found this picture on the internet. Who makes those spools and how are they attached? And a related question: Is it ok to drill the swingarm for spools and if so, how do you make sure they're both exactly in the same spot?

There is a boss on the inside of the swingarm on the 2008s that you can drill and tap for spools. James |

James, I am not sure you are correct. I have a white late model 'o8 and the swing arm does NOT have an internal boss and the wall thickness is not thick enough to support spools. Of course some could be fabricated and welded in place, but that will demand new powder coating for the swing arm. |

I just went with this for my 2008 1125R. I tried using a stand that wasn't made for it and it slipped off while I was changing the brakes and scratched the swing arm. I've had no issue with it. http://www.pit-bull.com/product/F0078A-000.html |

I went with the Venom 1125 specific stands (SMI6011+SMI3020-U-V04); $100.99 with free shipping on Amazon. I've used them many times, no issues |

Careful when getting a rear wheel stand. The 1125 swingarm is really wide. I searched a while before I found one that works. And it just barely does. |

Yes the Venom stands work fine. We hashed this out a least 5 times on here this year and another half dozen on the Buell Facebook pages. Then again. We are just talking about the spools.. I would suggest getting some slider/spools that mount through the axle instead of trying to ruin the swingarm. Or just find a 09-10 swingarm?? |

Yes, I'm quickly coming to the conclusion that a 09-10 swingarm is the best solution. They seem to be cheap and plentiful. Are they otherwise identical? Axle spools are not real useful for changing wheels/tires, etc. |

I think the only change back there between the years was going from the two bearing to three bearing axle—it only affected the wheel and axle, though. The color will be different if you're putting an 09/10 on an 08. |

R models have different swingarm/pulley/idler/belt/ECMmaps than CR models. |
