I have a spare fuel pump assembly and this part is jacked up. What is it and can I replace it?   By the way, I'm pointing to the little cylindrical thingy with the wire attached to it (which is good on this one, the pin on my spare is broken off). | ||

No problem Ralph! The twin motorcycles side is very handy to have a look for parts names and numbers. Isn't it possible to re soldering the wire onto the sensor? | ||

I couldn't see any way to solder a post back on. The entire top surface is pretty rotten, plus not knowing what it was I didn't know if even a little heat would destroy it. My drop dead repair was actually to tap it for a tiny screw and make a new post to thread in. Now that I have the part number (and the mystery of what it is solved) I'll get a replacement rather than attempt repair. | ||

If it took the tap and has metal threads, just use a screw and put a banjo bolt on the wire that comes off that post. | ||

It's just a thermistor in there. I just ordered one, not expensive and not backordered and went in fine. If you just broke the wire, you can solder it back, no problem. You will probably need new o-rings to put the fuel pump back in (unless you are really lucky). | ||
