Hey all-
An S2 with 8k miles just showed up up locally. I can see from the pic it's still got the WP shock. Will they still recall replace? I suppose they're not that much new or EBay. Gonna try to see it this weekend.

Someone on the forum(I think Deadbuell) found a dealership in Texas that was going to do a recall on his. That motivated me to email a local Pittsburgh dealership that was good with buells to see if that was still an option but I never heard back. If you hear any good information please pass it along. I wouldn't mind a rear shock that I didn't always have to be worried about.

If your interested, I'd love to have the original shock.

+2 on the original shock. I'd even be willing to send you one of mine in exchange

If the recall is still "open" on the VIN, a "Buell Service" H-D dealer can still perform the recall repair.
You can check your VIN under the owners section on H-D.com or a dealer can check for you, otherwise contact me.

Part of a recall is surrendering the OEM recalled part.

You're gonna lose the original WP.

I wouldn't. Keep it, buy an update, have both.

That's how one would hold on to it.

The way the recall works, frankly, it's very purpose, is to recover the old shock. It's also how the dealer gets paid.

Keeping the old one would involve either you or the dealer paying for the new one.

Unless something has changed.

Rocket88,

I've been watching that ad - it's a perfect original S2T, he's come down from $3,500 - I was thinking of looking at it myself. If you pick it up, leave it as is - just clean it up a bit, and if its a CA bike, maybe switch out the carb for a 49 state CV. If you don't buy it let me know why as I'm interested too.

Thanks

Just checked my 97 S1, says there are no open recalls on it. I know I have the older 16" shock on mine, but at least that makes that decision easier haha.

Rocket88 passed on the bike (96 S2T #241) so I worked a deal and (hopefully) will rescue it from unknowing hands tomorrow.

I'll post road trip and bike pix over in the S2 section in a few days
