it is a lot of work to install them as they require machining for the timken bearings on the sprocket shaft. They are not just bolt-in. Last I saw it cost almost $1500 to do this swap in a set of 2003 and older cases. Personally for the amount of money it cost to do one of those cranks I recommend getting an S&S crank with the splined pinion shaft. It cost less and best of all no more worries about the pinion shaft keyway breaking and causing tons of damage like the stock stuff can do. (Message edited by buelliedan on October 28, 2016) |

I use a XB9 fly wheel on my X1 and it'a direct swap. I'm talking about what goes in the primary. |

You mean stator bell then. Unlike UJM's. the Buell flywheel isn't the stator magnets. |

"I use a XB9 fly wheel on my X1 and it's direct swap. I'm talking about what goes in the primary." An XB9 flywheel is not a direct swap into an X1. Are you talking about your alternator rotor and sprocket inside the primary? |

Thank's Buelliedan, was only looking as so many posting about the swap, will wait till i have my stock flywheels out & apart to see what they look like. as have been runing it at very high cranking pressure for past few years, & going to 88" cast iron flat tops will weld the thunderstorm chamber for better swish, but can fit timkin as had to with twin cam. just will wait see what looks like. |

Alf, yes i'm not a big fan of the late flywheels as i had my twin cam 88" carb dyna flywheels slip the crank pin was lucky to get a near new set that the owner upgraded to 114" i had crank pin welded no more trouble but my old Shovel ran 11's & i road it everywhere could rebuilt it's bottom end. |

Thank's all, I'll wait till I pull motor split cases & pull my stock flywheel apart to inspect it.first. As have been runing it with very high cranking pressure they have never been apart before & bike has 100,000k (60,000miles) with new build will run less cranking pressure around 200 I think, but now it is up at 230 pound |
