Hey gang, for reasons... I have been out of the saddle quite a bit over the last 5 years, but just lead a 3 day Blue Ridge/Smokey Mtn ride and have been completely reinvigorated. However, my bike needs some loving attention as its only been out a couple times a year recently. First are tires, I got a set of Angel GTs (non A Spec) and will report back after putting a few thousand miles on them. I was surprised by how much I liked the stock D616s and never tried anything else until now. Also, over eager at the time, I purchased the race ECM kit (32620-03Y)
but never installed it since you can't run it with the stock XB12 muffler, and I never got to a point where I could justify the cost of a pure "just want it" aftermarket muffler. In addition to having the race ECM in my hand, I now have an embarrassing amount of rust on my muffler :/
... So, anyone running a Drummer with the older, stock race ECM? I have read some posts about flashing the older race ECM... is that still possible with all that the company has gone through? Thanks for any advice/recommendations. I have an '06 model. |

When talking about ECMs, what you have is called the P&A Race ECM, as it was offered by Buell in their parts and accessories catalog, these days when talking about Race ECMs, people are usually referring to the one that EBR sells. To install your ECM, you will need to perform a TPS reset, so you will need something like ECMspy and the cable to do it. It will work great with the Drummer, but for better results you can send either that or your stock ECM to IDS to get Drummer specific programming. http://idspd.com/xcart/buell-xb12-04-07-drummer-ec m.html |

BTW, that's not rust, that's character. |

@Froggy, thanks for the info. I have contacted IDS and they got back to me already! Probably going to try the race ECM first and then if there are any anomalies in the rev band, save up for the reprogramming @Griffmeister, hahhah... no doubt. This bike and I have been through a lot together and I love it even more now than when it was new. |

Definitely get the IDS ECM! I just purchased one and couldn't be happier with their customer service. I can't say enough about how great Tim and his team treated me. I wish everyone had a customer support team as good as these guys have. I only had the ECM in for a little bit but it seems to be spot on. You won't be disappointed. |

+1 on the IDS people. I got a ECU from them for my 2008 and it has never run better. They respond to questions in a prompt manner too. |
