I just bought some Alpinestars Corozal boots in size 11. I wanted more shin protection and they fit well, but when I sat on my 09' CR the toe box won't fit under the gear pedal. Should I look for a new pedal or just tweak the stock one to fit the new boot? Is there any way to make the stock pedal bow outward or is the only thing I can do is to move the toe peg portion? |

can't the entire lever be removed and placed in another position on the shaft? |

Get a longer bolt (for the "toe peg")to accommodate a spacer (see pix....or get alot of washers) to move the toe peg outward...I spray the "toe peg" with "dip-it" from a spray can and sprinkle some sand on it while the "dip-it" is tacky...and then hit it again with a light coat...easier/cheaper than chasing those little "toe peg" condoms...hth

@Nuts4Mc: that's a cool idea, where did you get the spacer? |

I have access to a machine shop ( a simple job for a lathe) if you want a "spacer" you can try looking at McMaster-Carr...it's a engineer's/machinist's "Home depot"...here's link: ( 1/2"ODx1/2"L x1/4"ID(.252") http://www.mcmaster.com/#unthreaded-spacers/=14je3 5p hth |

Cool thanks for the link. Do you recommend stainless steel or aluminum? |

If you move it one tooth on the splines it may move too much. You can turn the toe peg 45* and it makes it about a half spline taller. I hope that made sense. |

@Skntpig sorry, I don't know what a spline is. |

Aluminum=$ Stainless=$$$ a spline is like a long gear....the teeth on the shift shaft are external (male) and the teeth on the shift lever are internal (female) the "pitch" of the spline will determine how fine (small changes) or coarse (large changes) will be if you move it (1) tooth...Skint is recommending to leave the lever where it is on the shaft and loosen the "toe peg" and rotate it to give you a little more room for your new boot(toe)...hth |

Roger that, rotating or moving it forward/back was what I had in mind I'll look into that spacer idea too, thanks! |

Hmm, I tried again last night and realized a new problem... the boots I got do not have a lot of freedom to bend my ankle into an "en pointe" position. My foot pegs and the gear shift lever are placed in such a way that I would need to bend my ankle rather far from horizontal to reach the lever. So I think the best option is to get some foot pegs that will lower my heel and allow my toe to get at the lever without bending my ankle too far. |

some of us have utilized Buell Ulysses foot pegs...it lowers the foot but you'll scrape your toe if you lean over far enough. here's some ideas with pix: http://badweatherbikers.com/buell/messages/290431/ 672722.html?1333686018 http://badweatherbikers.com/buell/messages/290431/ 672722.html?1333686018 if you make the bike comfortable, you'll gain confidence and ride with more efficiency ( smoother)...hth |

Cool, that seems like the direction I need to go. I am only 5' 11" and the pegs haven't really bothered me until now. Luckily the boots are taller so I feel more secure when at a stop (both my feet can touch the ground now). I'll definitely look into Uly pegs... are these the ones you're talking about? http://www.Buell Parts/content-product_info/product_id-1609/ulysses_foot pegs_rider.html The 360s also look cool and are a smidge cheaper. Would anyone recommend messing with the shifter lever height? Or should I try a combination of shifter tweaking AND new, lower pegs? Or should I stick with the pegs first, see how it goes and then decide to tweak the shifter? (Message edited by javaman21011 on October 11, 2016) |

pegs first, shifter second...the pegs are the "center" of the "circle" |

Break in the boots. Get em soaking wet and wear them around the house/yard/store/whatever for a day. Then they'll flex. |

I would be adjusting the shifter first. It's already there, no additional expense in seeing if it will work for you with just a simple adjustment. Then, if it still won't jive for you look into pegs. |

My suggestion is to move the shifter up one spline tooth. If that's too high rotate the shifter peg to fine tune. One spline tooth is a pretty large adjustment. |

I've got some Alpinestars s mx-1 boots and just moved shifter up one tooth on the spline worked great even when bent over for drag racing. |
