I realize that everyone is tired of hearing about this, but I have searched and searched this forum for the Tank painting procedures(from Al Lighton), and all I can find is the products list. Does anyone know where to find the procedures for painting the plastic tanks? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I couldn't find Al's procedure, you can still ask Al, he's closed shop but he is still with us. His user name is "Al Lighton". I've attached a link to the product list plus a very abbreviated procedure on the right hand margin.

From what I read on BadWeb here, the flat sticker tank decals are likely to bubble because they don't "breathe", allowing fumes to pass. Use the later-style 3D-type raised letters on the tank instead of the sticker type. I also read that a light coat of primer is better than a thick coat for the same reason.

No type of inside "tank liner" has been found to be compatible with these tanks so you might avoid that idea.

I have no personal experience painting these tanks, I'm just regurgitating what I have read here.

Thanks for your help Jim2. Paint is expensive and sanding is not fun. I would like to only do this once.

What ever or how much preparation you do ,be prepared to get blisters under the new painted tank!
It's almost impossible to not getting blisters under the paint with the buell tanks.
The best results is with waiting a couple months before putting fuel in a new painted tank.
