I recently joined the XB club. Bought a _very_ low mileage 2009 XB12R and am awaiting delivery. It's got a Jardine exhaust and race ECM, plus a dyno tune. This bike will join my 2000 S3T and 1995 Sportster in the stable. I now have a cruiser, a sport tourer and a sport bike. Something for every occasion. When I bought my S3T a couple of years ago, I had to replace several gaskets and the tires (they were the originals) since it sat in a garage for several years without being ridden. Anything to look out for on this bike? |

2009 is one of the most bulletproof years, so enjoy it . Gaskets are almost all rubber and/or steel in the later XBs and hold up incredibly well. If the bike has been sitting a few years, make sure to drain the gas and clean or replace the injectors, for optimum performance. And it's a good idea to reset the TPS when you get it, which is really easy on the 08-10 models. |

Welcome, Airbozo! Congrats on the new addition to the stable! I have an '09 XB12Ss. Love it! You might make sure to clean and check as many electrical connections as you can...especially the grounds. And make sure to post some pics once you get it. |

Well, found out the bike has been kept in a temperature controlled garage for all 600 of it's miles and taken for an occasional spin, just because. It will be a month before I am able to sit on it, but I will take photo's once it arrives. Gives me time to pick up the service and parts manuals and read up on the TPS reset as well as other maintenance items. I've been looking at this year and model since before I got my S3T. I even saw this exact bike go on ebay several times, but I never bid on it and it never sold. Last year when I was underemployed, I almost bid on it then, but knew I could not justify or afford it. This is still mostly true and the main reason the SO was upset is because I just bought a new car (new to me anyway), for work. First time I have owned a 4 wheel vehicle in many years. Now I have 3x 2 wheels and a 4 wheel. The SO "owns" 2x 4 wheelers (an Outback and an FJ40) and this is the first time my wheel count has exceeded hers in 20 years. I am really excited right now. |

Just got off the phone with the previous owner and the shipping company. They will pickup the bike next week and I should have it by the end of the month or first week of October. Wish I had the time to just go get it myself... The SO is over being upset and is now excited about the bike too. Hopefully she will want to ride it. Might be a bad idea since she might not want to give it back... She's only been on my S3T to help setup the shock. |

Took delivery sunday behind a not so far away Safeway. It was the closest place the truck could pull into. I had a few minor issues, loose spark plug wire and a dirty fuel injector. A little seafoam and a few idle sessions and the rear cylinder started running with some stuttering, then fairly smooth through 4500 rpms. I had a great ride my first time out. By the top of the hill, it was running fine with only minor popping on deceleration. Still might have to replace the injectors. The photo is not that great, but you can almost see Monterey in the top left. Loch Lomand up to the right of the tail. Tough commute. I had a little more popping downhill but still felt solid accelerating. It's going to take a bit to get used to the new riding position and how touchy this thing is handling wise. I could see myself getting in trouble 20 years ago with this Firebolt. Still not sure I trust the maps, so I am doing some research to see what the difference is from the ones on this ecm to other suggested maps for the same setup. I was told it was dyno tuned and remapped. |

Well for one, the Jardine is about the worst performing pipe you can put on a 12, and they don't hold together very well at all. Best bet is to replace the pipe at some point, even though you will need a new tune. |

Have not learned too much about the performance mods to this bike yet. I will enjoy it until it self destructs then look for something else. I actually have the seller sending me the stock parts just in case I need them at some point. What would be a good setup for this bike? |

Oh that is nice looking, jealous. The popping could just be because of the exhaust. If you get the stock muffler from the seller, you could put that on to see if the popping goes away. Of course that will throw off the fuel map but should be okay just to try. Hope you get many miles out of it, have fun. |

Race muffler, Dean Adams, APH, D&D, Drummer, Micron, etc. Pretty much anything besides a Jardine, Dan Moto, gutted stock can, or Hawk (which is a gutted stock can). |

WHAT A GREAT FIND!!! Congratulations. For what it is worth.... Keep it simple at first, replace with stock muffler (added weight), replace battery with Li type (subtracts weight), K&N air filter, update injectors, reprogram ecm for 93+ octane. |
