http://badweatherbikers.com/buell/messages/3842/26 2625.html?1174095918 #809 on all of the 99' bikes. I saw the actual service bulletin and the instructions said something about measuring right by where the shock attached to tell if yours was one of the recalls shocks. That's where they were breaking. |

Just get the recalls done. Clean the hell out of it. Polish those PMs. Then get the paint right. Glad to see it getting saved! |

Seriously, clean it up and ride the hell out of it before you tear it apart and replace everything. Plenty of time for that later. |

Yeah I plan on riding it for a while first. I'm just gonna make sure I have everything I need to do the job then tear it down over a weekend and build it I've been talking to redstang and Purpony getting all my info and I can't wait. I rode it to work the other day with bent bars and a makeshift aircleaner and still loved every minute of the ride lol. |

Deadbuell Try really hard to get them to let you keep the recalled shock and swingarm (like maybe a little "wink-wink" cash offer?) - I'll by them from you - doing an S2 restoration and want the 100% "original" parts |

Tigermann I will see what I can do about seeing if I can keep them. I will let you know what they say. |

Try really hard to get them to let you keep the recalled shock and swingarm...I'll by them from you - doing an S2 restoration and want the 100% "original" parts You are aware that the OE S1 shock and swingarm are different from the OE S2 shock and swingarm? The shocks, though similar, had different differences in components. The swingarms were mainly different in the construction of the side arms; cut, 'folded' and welded on the S2, versus bent on the S1. Not trying to kibosh the idea as someone might be restoring an S1 in a similar way and might need/want the parts, just clarifying that they wouldn't be correct on an S2... 1313 |

1313 Didn't know - thought they were all the same into 1997. But like you said, I'd still try to keep the original parts |

If you keep the original parts ... the dealer, in addition to not getting reimbursed for the work, takes on about the entire liability should anything go wrong. I kept some new shocks (before they were recalled) but would never use one. Shame is that there is a pretty damn good chance that only a couple, of the entire population of recalled shocks, was bad. |

If you use a ztl 2 you have to use the matching master cylinder the ztl 1 is smaller. There is a considerable price diffrence. |

It's a good thing to have a look at the oil pump drive gear teeth before you start riding it again! |
