I'm looking for a new/used sleeve/cover (accordion looking) that goes over the clutch adjuster. Called HD & I must buy the entire clutch cable if I want that one part, for $70 I'm not doing that. This morning started the bike to warm up while I chatted with a neighbor. Minutes later there is smoke coming from the bike. My clutch cable wireform snapped & the sleeve/cover ended up touching the headers, partially melting off. I already ordered the updated clutch cable wireform part from my local HD. Hopefully you can still get one from your dealer. Here's a pic of one:

Hughlysses, you Da Man !! while the original wire part may've looked better, the updated part's more likely to actually be available |

Quick question, do I need to remove the clutch cable to put the cable through this wireform or can I bend it slightly open and then closed? Yes I was able to order the updated wireform earlier today. One the same call they told me the only way to get the sleeve is to order the entire clutch cable kit, I'm not paying $70... If I can't find one I think I'll just flip it upside down, where the partially melted top is on the bottom. Maybe also just use rubber cement to cover the melted opening shut, I caught it as soon as it started smoking & it's salvageable if need be. (Message edited by LJIvasiv82 on September 15, 2016) |

Maybe another manufacturer has something similar. Honda, Kawi? |

It was a factory recalled part. They may install for free if you bought your bike new. I just paid the $15.00 and took it home. I don't remember needing to pull the cable... |

Jim thanks for the find. I'll see what I can figure out with this one before I order, the shipping will be many times more than the part itself, coming from UK to NYC. |

Brother I did notice that one on Ebay as well. It's rubber so should be stretchable but do you know if the opening is just right or might be a bit too wide? THanks |

I will let everyone know if I decide to test it out. Let me look at my melted one & see how bad of a shape it's in. |

Thank Mmeustoms, let me know! Looked at the one I have, besides my burns this thing has been melted a few times in a few locations. Not huge halls but plenty of little ones, so I would love a new one. I opened up the clutch adjuster & the cable inside looked perfect, so I'm happy. However, the previous owner kept it indoors mostly, so I should def get a proper sleeve. (Message edited by LJIvasiv82 on September 18, 2016) |
