Hey guys, I'm in the process up changing out the voltage regulator on my 06 Ulysses. Stator put out the appropriate voltages at the certain RPMS across all connectors. Well, before I got the new VR and connector kit, I took out the wires from the old style 77 in prep to do the swap. Well now I don't know which wires go where since on the VR side, they're both black. Does anybody have a link or picture showing the new updated Deutch connector with which wire goes on what side? Thanks! |

I don't think it matters, but you might want to wait for others to confirm. |

I do not want to fry the $170 VR I just got |

If you have a multimeter, one lead should be a short to the case of the regulator, connect that to black in the harness. The other must be +12 to the red in the harness. |

The 77 connector goes to the stator, and on the stator side, neither goes to the case of the regulator, and neither is part of the black wiring harness. They are the phase coils from the stator. The 08 electrical manual suggests it doesn't matter which connects to which. And I suspect there is just a rectifier bridge as the input to the stator, which also wouldn't care which phase is connected to which rectifier bridge input. |

My mistake, the 77 connector is exactly as Livers describes. My apologies. It's the "46" connector I was talking about. |

So, on the 46 connector between the stator and voltage regulator, it probably doesn't matter. On the 77 connector, the wire that currently has continuity to the VR body / base is the one that should be connected to the wire that currently has continuity to the chassis ground (frame). |

OKay thanks guys! Yes I have a multi meter. That makes sense tho. Figure out which terminal of the 77 is grounded to the case of the VR will go to the black or negative terminal |

So I got he regulator back on and went to fire it up. Just cranks. No sparks. Can smell fuel. I have the factory service manual but was hopping for some quick stuff to check |

In my hast, I hooked up the black and gray connectors to the wrong partners and that was it. |
