Unless tankhead caves in to separation anxiety. I've searched everywhere I can think of. Is the shop manual for this model unobtainium? (Yikes. I've forgotten all the formatting info. Used to be able to type these emoticons faster than finding/clicking 'em.) Cap'n Pete |

Captain: The shop manuals are available. I'll be home tomorrow and post up a part number if someone doesn't beat me to it. While I think new ones can be had from dealers, such as St. Paul HD . . . I'll bet they are easy to find on eBay. Court |

It's worthwhile to call around. I got a manual from a dealership that was kinda beat from being out on the shelf so they gave me a discount |

Great Googly Moogly. I don't know if this was legal, but I just downloaded a 712-page PDF document titled: 2009 Buell XB Models Service Manual 99490-09Y Of course, I immediately deleted that file, as my outlaw days are all behind me. I'm too old to do any more time. Cap'n Pete |

The digital service manuals are pirated, but I do recommend downloading it to use in addition to the paperbacks. Keep on your phone or whatever for quick reference when on the road. Also, for your 09 there are three books. Service manual, electrical diagnostics manual, and a parts book. The service manual has most of the info you need. There is almost no electrical related content in the service manual, all of that stuff has its own book. The parts book is optional, but I find the diagrams to be great for seeing how parts connect together. |

The manuals are excellent. They set the bar that no other manual has met. Kawasaki is a close second, but not as good as Buell. I am a chronic cheapskate, but I never regretted a penny spent on the manuals (and I've spent a bunch of pennies on them). The digital copies are an interesting intersection of conflicting law. It is illegal to distribute them, as they are copyrighted works. And I'd even say immoral to distribute or download them as an alternative to buying them, though the immorality gets a bit sketchy now given HD has abandoned Buell, Buell employees, and Buell owners (even if it is a slow motion abandonment). But if you have a paper copy, the law protects your right to "media shift" and have a digital copy as well. Well, except for conflicting law that says any overcoming of even the most trivial of copy protections is illegal, even though having the copy may be legal. Lots of shades of grey, but like Frank says, buying a paper copy and having a digital copy at no extra charge seems pretty fair to everyone. (Message edited by reepicheep on August 15, 2016) |

Thanx for the input, gents. The search for hard copies continues, although no one I've heard of has taken a worse beating in the name of (not from) Buell Inc. than I, unless it's Wes & Pammy Brown, on the same S1W. That's one stand-up shop/couple of fine individuals. Stubborn as hell, though. I never could talk them into swapping that goofy name for "The Integrity Horsepower Company." Arguably my fault, however. I coulda walked away from the first of 6 repetitive engine fails and only been out $2.5k. But then, I never would have found the BadWeb and made so many friends, both real and virtual. This is gettin' a little too sappy. I'm clear. I'm with on the copyright theories. I used my discount at the HD dealer when I took delivery of my XT when new and bought the service manual. That being said, I have since obtained a digital copy for quick research while on the computer at home/work. That and the fact that certain pages of my paper manual are stained to the point that my wife would not appreciate it in the house!! HA!! |
