I may be interested in it. How many miles on it, do you know? |

I believe it had about 15,000 miles but not sure. I took it in trade for some work we did. The lower rod bearings feel nice and tight. (Message edited by buelliedan on August 04, 2016) |

(Sorry for the Q&A)... I'm thinking of just getting this instead of a crank and splitting cases to deal with my 07 imminent rod failure. Less money then a new crank, and less work for me to get a bike in running and salable condition. This and my 07 bottom end are pretty much identical, aren't they? The only difference I can think of is that my 07 probably has the new better pinion gear for the oil pump. All the electrical stuff like the CPS and neutral sensors are all the same. |

yes to my knowledge everything else would be the same. This would be nice to have as a spare for sure. Thinking of picking up in person or having me ship it? |

Trans is different between 04 & 07. Cases are also slightly different but would function normally. You'd have to change some fittings. If you want a brand new crank, I have one in the HD box for $300. |

Oh yeah, I forgot about the transmission change. You would have to ship it, but I don't mind driving somewhere to pick it up when it gets to my area (Dayton or Cincinnati Ohio). Any idea how much shipping would be? That might be the deal breaker part of it. If it's more than $150 or so, the math gets a bit sketchy versus just rebuilding my current one. I parked it early so the crank hasn't damaged anything else yet. |

Effectively they are the same, but as far as actual differences, the trans is different as mentioned, the 04 has a smaller shift shaft (not at the splines, but in the forked piece that snaps into the cases on the primary side), and has a smaller, Sportster sized output shaft bearing and seal. 06-up use the Big Twin output shaft bearing and seal. |

No hurry on my end, it would be a winter project. If it gets to be too much hassle to find a shipper I can look also, but you would be doing most of the work on your side to ship it. I'd just drive somewhere and pick it up. |

Bottom end is around 80-100lbs depending what all is on it. Typically $70-150 depending on method of shipping |

Jrobey was right on. Weighs 92 pounds without the packaging so I am figuring about 100 when all packed up. |

Keep an eye on Python-Paul on Ebay. He's constantly parting out XBx. Always as an auction so they go really really cheap. That was my plan until I saw Dan selling a set. |
