We own an 1996 S2T. We need storage! Solution: Givi nylon saddlebags that expand to 20 liters each side. Mounting was easy. My wife Doris found some "static" plastic overlay so, hopefully, the fiberglass bodywork won't be destroyed. Here are a couple of pics
There are two wide velcro straps and one narrower "helmut like" middle strap. The front wide velcro strap isn't seen as it's under the seat pan, the rear wide velcro strap is aft of the seat and on top of the bodywork. I'll report back when I get there. |

Don't do this. Sorry I did. Rashed the belt guard, cracked in one place. Broke the ham can adapter bracket again, third time isn't the charm. Hannum HD in Sellersville will get the CHROME (don't use the CHROME, it's brittle and cracks easier), so I'll be buying from BuellieDan when we return. The upside is we are in beautiful PA and more time with family. |

What's the issue with the factory bags? I did the WVBR last year living out of my S2 and the only thing that wasn't in the bags was the mattress pad because it was too long to fit in the bag rolled up. Do you have narrow or wide lids? And yes, soft bags need a metal hoop support to keep em from sagging into things on the swingarm. |

Narrow. Locks on right bag, Two of the three locks will not stay in the locked position. Any solutions you may have are welcomed. |

If you mean the dzus fasteners that hold the bag to the bike, I had the same issue. I got some fiber washers (you can use cardboard too). Put them on the inside surface of the bag. Stick the dzus fastener through it and twist. The added thickness keeps enough pressure on the dzus to make it work again. I'll try and get photos posted tonight. |

Ratbuell: I'll find some fiber washers at the hardware store...thanks. We're now back home in Waukesha WI. Total fuel consumed was 44.845 gallons. Total distance was 1,989 miles. Average gas consumption was 44.353 miles per gallon. Not too shabby for this old girl |

Sorry for the poor resolution, but it's cropped from the only picture that I apparently have of Steve's S2T.
Interestingly, on a somewhat related note, when I was researching mirrors for my S3T Defender, I found that like year GSXR's had the same mirrors. The boots do look familiar from somewhere - not sure if later S2 mirrors had that style or what... 1313 |

Maybe it's the angle, I dunno? They don't look like stock or the Yamaha mirrors to me. I have the Yammie mirrors on mine, after removing the stock floppies. |
