A friend of mine in the UK is trying to remove the top box rack from my XT (which I'm selling if anyone in the UK/Europe is reading). Non metric tools are not easily found in the UK, and he's unsure of the size of the bolt head in this photo. Can anyone with this rack on their X/XT please share what size this one is?

Appears to be 1/2 inch, believe a 12 mm will get her. |

If it's 1/2", it's a 13mm match. 12mm will work on a 7/16". |

If they don't have something that will work it's probably a 9/16". 13mm is so close to 1/2" it wouldn't be a problem but 9/16" might be. It's .062" bigger than 1/2" and 14mm is only .039" bigger so it's right between 14mm and 15mm. |

A cheap sloppy 14mm wrench might work or a 6 point 15mm. 6 inches = 15.24cm

The bolt attaching the top rack to the underneath side of the passenger handle is a 1/2 inch. Barry Hollister, CA |

I just went out and looked at my 06 X and it's different than yours. The bigger bolt that screws into the bottom of the grab bar is 1/2" or 13mm. It's either different than yours or I'm looking at the wrong part. Maybe a picture from further away might help. |

Nevermind! I found it. Your picture makes it look bigger and that confused me. I know, it doesn't take much! It's 3/8". I put a socket on it. That's 9.5 mm so I understand your problem. |

The mix of SAE and metric does get annoying working on a Buell. I wish HD had just gone metric, but I understand why they didn't. |
