With the closing of American Sport Bike, where are you guys buying performance tuber parts? (I started a thread earlier but it links direct to the American Sport Bike site) Specifically, I'm looking for a glass repack kit for my Buell race muffler (the Pro Race exhaust system) |

I use steel wool. Works great, sounds great, lasts quite nicely. |

Doesn't it rust? |

It burns too. It used to be a trick that racers would pack their mufflers with steel wool to pass the noise tests of the track. During the race the muffler would get louder and louder. Perhaps our injected bikes don't spurt flames like old triumphs and BSAs? I know if I tried to pack my ironhead's mufflers, they wouldn't make it out of my driveway. |

There was someone here that used stove rope for isolation. |

http://www.bristolcore.com/product_p/e3-0125.htm This is what American Sport Bike carried, good stuff. Al was good enough to steer me to them when he ran out. (Message edited by SteveFord on July 27, 2016) |

Wow, that's pretty specific. That link should probably go as a sticky in the KV. |

Dirt bike stores carry muffler repacking material. They asked me 2 or 4 stroke. :-) Barry Hollister, CA |

I have some in the garage (2 stroke). That other stuff is nice, already encapsulated and sized right. The price is very good for it also. That construction will last a lot longer than anything you would just stuff in there. |

The last repack I got came from American Sport Bike and was less than, well...let's just say it was a PITA to accomplish. This looks a LOT better. Think I'm gonna order some whether I'm ready to repack right now or not. Maybe I'll order two, seeing as how these things are quickly going the way of the Jurassic period.... |

I'm using stone wool for ovens. Works great and you can get repacking for the next 100 years for a few Euro. |

Haven't you heard? The euro is a thing of the past now, or so the Brits say... |

Paying with euro's is like playing the monopoly board game! |
