I have my 2006 Uly posted on Craigs List Denver and here on the for sale bikes. I started out at $4300, but have since dropped it to $3500. Is there that little demand for Uly's out there? I have only received two replies to the $3500 post and they wanted to trade another bike on one and a motorcycle trailer on the other, neither of which I need. Am I overpriced? I am several hundred less than other Uly's in my area. |

How many miles on the 06? The 10k versions with luggage might go pretty quickly at around $3500. If you are at 30k on a pre 2008 you may be high. You may need to go down to "what the heck" prices like $2500. I just bought a museum quality 08 XT with 33k miles, all the luggage, all updates (including 3 bearing rear wheel) and a huge stack of accessories for $4500. I felt it was a great deal for me, but it was pretty much fair market price if you didn't know how nicely it was maintained. So it probably depends on milage and condition. If it is pristine and under 20k, your price is probably pretty good. If not, well... The world is missing out on some wonderful motorcycles, and the current Uly prices are stupid good values. (I distinguish between the 06's, which are good solid bikes with the old oiling system and smaller crank bearings, and the 07's which would have been improved if somebody at Harley wasn't asleep at the switch and making bad cranks, and the 08 and up versions that had the new oiling system and crank bearings. I think the 08's and up are 60k mile bikes easy, and probably 100k miles bikes if you are willing to stay on top of them. The 06's are probably 100k miles bikes also if you treat them nicely and have a little luck. A disturbing number of the 07's are loosing cranks at 30k or so miles, which is clearly a manufacturing defect). (Message edited by reepicheep on July 25, 2016) |

The 06 is a solid bike. I have 34k "ride it like ya stole it" miles on mine. So far, total failures have been 2 belts (my fault, slamming 1-2 shifts); one voltage regulator (Shindengen installed); two leaking oil coolers; one 77 connector (nipped in the bud by the Kuryakyn voltmeter, and replaced with submersible well pump splices); two sets of kickstand bolts; one set of front exhaust header studs; and one battery. Upgrades include HID low beam, LED high beam, aux lights, 1125CR mirrors, '10 rear wheel, Buell heated grips, Garmin Quest II GPS, and 07 fork springs. Oh, an an XB9 primary. I never wash it, and I'll never sell it. But...Uly's are a "secret" - nobody knows what they are, really, except those of us who own them. Great for that "super secret boys' club" feeling...not so good for resale. |

I notice you don't like the turning radius. You can install the 08 trees with your forks and get that back. An XB9 primary will work wonders in the tight twisties, jeep trails and city riding. What is it that makes you want to sell it? |

I'm keeping my '06 until such point that I can get $10,000 out of it. It'll have 200,000 miles on it and be 45 years older, but scrap prices may reach that point by then.....or the value of the dollar may decline to that point at somewhere into the future. |

Imo it's the lack of dealer service and fear of parts availability that scares folks away. My garage kept jewel seems unsaleable so I've pushed it out in the elements to fade away. Sad death for such a perfect xp that I had such great times on. Heck I can't get service work done on my under warranty 1190R, for my Uly would be impossible imo. Glad I had the skills to wrench myself. Most folks looking for a bike, no way... just not mainstream. |

Yup, keeping mine also. Will add other motorcycles to the stable, but not selling the ULY, it's too much fin to ride. Been contemplating what to do when the engine goes. Probably will have someone rebuild it (If it doesn't fail catastrophically) with reliability in mind instead of high horsepower. |

I have just over 30k miles on her. I originally bought the Uly because I had several miles of dirt road to commute on. Most of that has been paved now. I became disenfranchised with the Uly when my stator went out and the "factory" part did not fit. I had to remove the clip and jury rig it to fit. I bought a 2008 Kawasaki Concours and love the smooth ride and power. |

Most folks don't have a clue what a Buell is, even those that own motorcycles. New Buells are EBR's and probably 1/10 of a percent have a clue about EBR. Buells haven't been made since Oct of 2009 so we have bikes that are a footnote in biker lore. I really like my ULY and will probably have it forever (who'd want it anyway), but I know it is a bike that needs a rider that does his own maintenance and keeps on top of things. Best bike I've owned by far. Over 52,000 miles now which is the most I've put on any bike I've owned. Little noisy in one of the lifters but I really am not ready to dismantle it, I just want to ride it. Just changed the oil a couple of days ago so it is good until 55,000 miles. When is EBR going to throw a homecoming like Buell used to? I could use a ride to East Troy. |

To tell you the truth, up until about a year ago I wasn't the slightest bit interested in Buell. When I began to get bored with the cruiser I was driving I started looking at sporty bikes with a little bit more upright riding position. I couldn't find exactly what I was looking for until one day I stumbled across the Ulysses on Craigslist. On paper it seemed to check all the boxes for me. Quick, light handling,comfy enough for me and the missus to get away on a weekend trip and priced under 5k. I started researching a little bit more about what Buell was all about. Found this forum and begin reading the post from everyone here and started to learn why everyone was so in love with their bike. After my first test drive on a Ulysses I understood why everyone loved her bike so much. It fit me perfect and the fun factor was through the roof. Unfortunately me and that seller could not come together on a price. Fast forward a few months and I found an XT priced just right for me. I am so glad I was able to find one of these hidden gems. I know the market really sucks for those selling, but if you are in the market to buy, these are great bikes at a great price! I love mine and we'll be keeping it until it is dead. |
