Have a drummer pipe and K&N air filter installed. Dealer did not have ecm or did they have any idea as to what part # to use. Bike seems to run better. Logically this should lean the bike out( more air in and out). Is it the tps that controls the fuel air ratio or is it the ecm. I don't want to have a tps reset for fear of a lean engine and gain nothing. |

The DDFI system measures the O2 in the exhaust & can compensate for a potentially lean condition. Now obviously it has only a certain window to operate in & obviously cant fatten up the mixture enough to compensate for something like blown intake seals. But with what you have it will perform just fine. |

Yeaymon, the tps tells the ecm how much the throttle is open, the ecm then controls the fuel delivery. You only need a tps reset if you fit an ecm that hasn't been in your bike before. It seems all the tps's (throttle position sensors) put out a slightly different voltage, so when you fit a new ecm it needs to have the voltage of the tps on your particular bike downloaded into the new ecm. It's called a tps reset but it's really an ecm reset. The Drummer, K&N and stock ecm work fine on an XB12, I don't know about the XB9.

I also have the Drummer with stock ecm and filter. Both are on order though, but I just got my 12 airbox lid (luckily ordered the day before Brian quit). I am being pretty easy on the bike as I was not sure about it running lean, but I was wondering if installing the filter and new airbox lid is safe until I can get the tps reset. How can you really tell if all is alright? Power seems fine, fuel mileage is in the upper 50's for sedate riding, and only sometimes get a pop or two in the exhaust. |

Only thing I've noticed is a slight popping when engine braking and the front header is starting to turn slightly blue. The back header has always been blue cause it runs hotter but my front never started to turn blue until after I did the mods. Fan seems to be running at about the same times as before mods indicating the the engine is not really running that much hotter if any. |

Who did you talk to. I've never had any trouble with them knowing parts and such. The only trouble I've had is that damn service dept. I've got to go by there this afternoon, I'll give 'em a hard time for ya! You gonna join our little BRAG chapter? |

Dave, Travis e-mailed me and invited me out to the dealership this Wed. for the meeting. What's the deal with these things, is there dues or do we just get together and ride. I'm not a big fan of the service dept. either. All I need them for is a tps reset and even then I'll try to get them to loan me the computer so I will know it's been done right .(like that'll happen).Yeah dude, give them a hard time, tell them I had the cash on me. I bought the bike their and would like to have a good relationship with them but I will take my business elsewhere if it comes down to it. Give 'em hell. |

It's been changed to Monday the 3rd. They'll be the first Monday of each month from now on. The last "meeting" we had, we got our sling bags, and road agressivly to Little Five Points for a beer. I've been in touch with Todd Colbert to come out and do a show for us now that he's sponsored by Buell. I have good relationship with them and have no problem giving the hell. If all else fails I just ride over to Earl's. Earl's is more organized but I've put in a lot of effort at SMHD to make them Buell friendly, they've come a long way, but, still have a long way to go. At least they've been reseptive so far. No dues as of yet, just need your BRAG #.

You meet at SMHD, right? I'll see if I can call the number on the Buell website and get a membership. I bought my bike in 02 so my membership just ran out, didn't think I would need it anymore...guess I was wrong. |
