I am going to TIG weld a bung on each header for wideband tuning purposes. I was thinking on doing this without taking the header off. Disconnect battery and ECM, anyone done this or seeing any issues? Grounding straight on the header obviously, but then I was thinking of all the different sensors around... Would it be a concern that any of these could fry? |

I've welded on my CR with no issues. Disconnected battery and removed ecu. |

If your ground is attached to the header, you should have no trouble with the electronics. You may have some trouble if you burn through the pipe and contaminate the weld with combustion residue from the inside, however. |

Ideally, you would want to pull the header, stuff the ends, and purge the header with argon. |

Didn't think about the possible residue contamination. Don't want to take any chances this looking like shait (being so visible and all) by repeatedly grinding and rewelding, I'll take the the job and pull the headers. An opportunity to clean them up a bit more thorough again too. Thanks for the thoughts. |

Yep, and polished headers rate way less heat than grungy headers. |
