2002 X1 Lightning with 2850 miles. Sat in storage for 5 years. Had to replace coil, battery, and did an oil change with new filter. Gas was completely drained prior to storage. I do remember before storage and now the idle is very low and bike will shut off if I don't hold the throttle at 2k RPM for 30 seconds. After I hold it, the bike will idle but not perfect but nonetheless it'll hold. Ran a full tank of non-ethanol 90 octane with Lucas fuel injector cleaner and has been run for 150 miles. Runs much better but still doesn't hold idle. Ideas? Fuel injectors need to be replaced? If so, cheapest place to get them? A Harley guy told me they are GM 4.3 Vortec injectors. True? Help please. |

Nothing is wrong. Just set the idle higher. The DDFI#1 couldn't control the throttle plate so the idle is completely controlled by a crude screw stop like on a carb. There is a thumb wheel at the end of a cable found in the left side scoop. I suggest setting it to just under 1000 when the engine is warm. You will always have to hold the throttle open a tiny amount when it's first cold started. Try to keep it at about 1500 to 2000 until it's moderately warmed up to protect the head gaskets. |

BTW, the best thing you could do for that thing is ride it. I had more miles than that after my first month of ownership!! Mine didn't really feel broken in til 16,000 miles. |

I find that I use the idle adjust almost like a choke on a carb bike. I twist it a half turn for cold, and when it warms up, I back it off a half turn. |
