LAP has been adamant about using UPS, much to the frustration of many of its customers. Furthermore the shipping charges are not just for UPS, they also include handling charges, but they are buried in just shipping. LAP does not consider that the customer base is world-wide. When you look at the address and phone formats they accept on their purchase form, only the US format is accepted. I have mentioned this to them and have been ignored. I have had to use a mail forwarding service to resolve this, but I am still stuck will two shipping costs.
I think what frustrated Zviadi was lack of communication. He placed his order via e-mail (as instructed on the site) and got no confirmation or other response for weeks. I've never done international shipping, but the consensus seems to be UPS is far from the best way of accomplishing it. Even the USPS is said to be much better.
I'm sure LAP/EBR were (and probably still are) incredibly short-handed, and it's understandable that an order, especially an international one, takes a while to fulfill.
My point is that Buell seemed to excel at handling situations like this, and EBR would do well to keep that up.
What about the recent agreement with Northern Classic, Custom and Race AB of Sweden to provide parts, service for the European market? Are European customers not being directed to contact them for support?
^ Zviadi's parts order was prior to that announcement. I asked about this for future orders, but he said since the EU and Russia are not getting along these days, it would be no help to him. Apparently commerce between the EU and Russia is significantly restricted.
I just remembered about another part of Zviadi's problems; IIRC a portion of his order was held up and no one could figure out why:

Find out what the problem is - UPS not send parcels to other countries over 100 cm in length. Just something long and thin, such as fishing rods. Not fairing. LAP is not guilty for this hitch.
I have shipped computer parts to almost every country. Russia is one of the worst. I would like to see how much of that UPS bill was for customs (palm greasing).
One replacement HDD bracket (total cost of ~$15us) cost nearly $200 and six weeks sitting in customs until we paid a local "handling fee".
Replacement CPU's never made it to the same customer. (thanks Intel for bailing us out on that one)
Brazil is the worst. It is cheaper to personally fly parts there and hand deliver them.
A friend in Scotland had to pay ~$30us VAT to obtain his birthday present.
DHL is THE best way to get parts overseas. (or used to be)
Very interesting- just saw this posted to Facebook:

DAMN!!! I really wish I could buy a new bike right now. But wifey needs a new car first. And I just picked up an S2 over the winter.
And I don't see that post on their facebook page. Plus EBR isn't listed on their inventory on the website.
Action also has a 2012 RS for $25k should you be interested in that. Those guys, including James are great, they are a bad influence on my wallet though.

That would be common sense, but common sense doesn't alway provide the control it should.

Don't know if there is a name for this ratio, but as a check on how H-D is being managed vs. the rest of the DOW companies, lets look at stock price divided by DOW.
In Nov 2006 H-D stock was $75 at a DOW of 14,385...or a .00521 ratio. Today it is $48 at a DOW of 14,385, or a .00259 ratio. Seems like things need a shakeup, since the value of this ratio is now less than half of when it was being managed well....
Maybe a different Buell with the same, similar, or more motorcycle models as compared to EBR Motorcycles. What path would they be on without the HD (and Hero) divorce/annulment?
