After 1313's recent bearing mishap with his 2010 wheel, I got to thinking I better be ready to replace mine if needed. I actually bought some appropriate SKF bearings a few years ago, but I'd never gotten the external dust seals. I stopped by my local HD dealer today, and order 4 of them, so I'd have 2 sets. I was just wondering if this part is a standard industrial seal (like the wheel bearings are standard off-the-shelf bearings) or is this a Buell-specific seal that will be NLA when HD stops supporting Buell? Here's a pic of one of the seals (not mine):
When I get my new seals, I'll post up if there are any numbers that might help us identify a standard seal. |

I missed that one. What happened to 1313's 2010 wheel bearings? Thanks |

^ He lost the brake disk side bearing on the way back from homecoming. His wheel seems to be OK, but it's just a reminder that even the 2010 wheels aren't immune to bearing problems. (Message edited by Hughlysses on June 10, 2016) |

Hard to imagine it's a custom seal, given how many different standard seals and bearings are kicking around out there. It would be hard to make a custom one that wasn't already a standard somewhere. |

The dimensions should be imprinted on the seal. I'm guessing that any bearing house will have them or can get them. |
