Looking for options. I don't like the 90deg elbow with filter at the end. I'm thinking about getting a round one. Do any for the sportster fit the x1? Will they all need to have a hole drilled for the air temp sensor? Sportsters don't have air temp sensors in their airfilters? |

Might go with a forcewinder xr2. Looks like a solid kit. |

The problem with the sportster air cleaners is most don't clear the frame. The easy part in drilling a hole for the ATS. You'll need to space out the backing plate about 3/4" out further to clear the frame. |

I just got to looking thru ebay under "sportster air cleaner" and came across the one that's in my profile pic. I had to open the inlet hole and a hole for the AIT sensor and paint but it was what I was wanting and it looks great. |

NRHS has a nice billet round air filter that clears the frame. I had one on my S2. I believe Jeff Caco has one for sale at a good discount over new, in the classifieds section. |

The nrhs in the MP is for the carb s2. Logo is also to big for me I think plain looks better. Thanks for pointing it out though! Currently I have a custom fiberglass one from Germany but the metal frame inside is thin and has been breaking. I had used weather stripping for house doors and it might be causing vibration. It didn't seal to well was kinda bent. Now have it flattened but kept the weather stripping. Next time I'll leave it off.. I've had it welded twice on the same day. Might leave it at the welder to get beefed up but looking at other options. For a possible spare or new direction.. Did a long ride and nearly lost my airfilter yesterday! The weather stripping was holding it on at 60 mph! Simply amazing! The L bracket hanger for the header also broke at a reweld. Need to buy the upgraded kit asap Dutch is yours still efi? Did you need to modify it or did you call and ask for one for the X1? Yours was the pic I saw I like seeing more of the engine. S&s stealth look pretty cool saw a youtube for the m2 but looked like work to get it on. Curious what is on this X1 on the hammer website kinda like the look. No filter though. Kinda want it. I'm sure my leg would smell like gas. lol!! Is it still efi where does the ats go on something like this? .

Like mentions above, just drill a hole for the sensor. And if you don't like the logo, just flip the center section over. It's plain on the other side. |

x1bully, yes my x1 is still efi (sportster aircleaner fits). i had to drill a hole for the sensor and use a spacer to keep it from the frame . (Message edited by dutch x1 on May 30, 2016) |

As long as were talking filters I have the oval carbon fiber "race" air filter kit. What kind of service & interval does it need? Is it cleaned and oiled like a KN kit? I have been doing that twice seasonally since I had no experience to go on. |

The NRHS round will work perfectly on a fuel injected X1 but you would need to just zip tie the air temp sensor to the outside on the frame rail as there is not enough room for it inside the ac. Lots of folks do it this way with the smaller sized acs and it works great. I offer it in billet aluminum or black with no logo if desired as well. Just have to ask for it. http://nrhsperformance.com/partshurricaneflow.shtm l (Message edited by buelliedan on May 31, 2016) |

that picture of the black X1 above just has a velocity stack on it. No filter at all so not good for street use as you would suck all sorts of bad things into your engine. I find it hillarious that hammer has that bike pic on their website with a big ole NRHS sticker proudly displayed on the tank!!! |

Wow S1owner bike looks sweet! Sick aluminum tank and the shock is interesting to. Is that build done? Tron light looks pretty cool as well. Reminds me of one of my favorite movie bikes, the ducati from tron. Thanks Buelliedon! I'm currently running it open. Just did a quick search on velocity stacks. Definitely would not want to be running one of those near the beach. lol! I will need new breather bolts or something with this Airfilter. My current airfilter has holes in the plate for the breather tubes. Might go with breather bolts like the outlaw breather bolt. Jefc73. I replied yesterday. Just read about the ATS relocation from Bulliedon. Get back to me when you can. thanks. Found this.. http://www.neverra.com/stories/custom-buell-salt-flat-lakester-cherry-salt-plan-b Thinking about going with a velocity stack with filter cap. I've tried to decide on a new air filter assembly for years but I don't really like the forcewinder and not sure any of the others will clear my knee. I remember riding a friend's M2 back in 2000 or 2001 with the carbon race and my knee hitting. I'm 6'2". Anyone else have knee clearance issues with any of the ones mentioned above? |

Thanks everyone for all the suggestions and tips. I have decided on the Kuryakyn Velociraptor in black. I think it will look the best on my bike and the price is pretty good as well. For the X1 should I order the one for sportster 2007-2016? Or the older one Pre 2006? |

As an aside, this answers a bunch of questions that always ran around in my head: Brian Nallin built Nallin Racing Head Service in Shreveport, LA. Aaron Wilson partnered with Brian and moved Nallin Racing Head Service to Colorado. Millennium Technologies was started, and is still owned, by the Hackl family in Wisconsin. Aaron bought out Brian Nallin who then went to Millennium and developed the Revolution Performance division. Richard Nallin started a retail shop to sell Revolution Performance stuff. Aaron shut down Nallin Racing Head Service. Sold merchandise, inventory and website to Daniel Dunn; machining equipment to Dan "Hammer Dan" Norlin. Dan Norlin used his purchase from Nallin Racing to start his own business, Norlin Racing and Head Service. Daniel Dunn used his purchase from Nallin Racing to start NRHS V-Twin Performance. Aaron kept a machine or two for his own use as he started ASW Racing. NRHS farmed out machine work to Norlin Racing. ASW Racing supplied billet parts to NRHS (and others). Norlin Racing and Head Service was re-birthed as Hammer Performance. Aaron partnered with Dan Norlin and Hammer Performance was moved to Idaho as well as cut ties with NRHS. Brian Nallin left Revolution Performance and now owns a performance cars consignment business. Dan "Thumpe" owns D-C Parts, and always has. ...and that's where the four guys are currently at: Daniel Dunn @ NRHS, Aaron Wilson and Dan Norlin @ HammerPerf, Brian Nallin @ RollingConsignments and Thumpe @ D-C Parts |

Thanks charger22 switching to carb is something I might go with later on. I was going to buy a S1 at first but went with a X1 because it looks more customizable. Reading back on the airfilter for the carb s2 that it fits the X1. I guess it's the same thing? I should buy one for a pre 2006 then I have a option for carb later? I also like how the breather kit is included with the filter as well so I can save money there to. Will order later in the week. |

That's close, but there was about a year or two that Aaron's former son in law, Jon, was running the machine shop end before Norlin bought in. |

Even after Dan Dunn bought NRHS from Wilson the work was actually all done under one roof as Son-in-law Jon and Norlin racing was in the same building as NRHS until late 2011 when Norlin decided to start his own company and moved to ID. Since 2012 all machine work at NRHS is done in house. (Message edited by buelliedan on June 02, 2016) |
