My gas cap on my 99 x1 wont come off, and I have some what stripped it forcing it to turn. It does still seal tight when closing the latch. Any solutions? |

There was a seller on eBay, gmaan03, who was making aluminum replacement parts for the caps. You could try writing him. Failing that, you'd want an early cap that's NOT made in Taiwan. |

http://www.newton-equipment.com/aero-400-filler-ca p.html The aero 400 was the original - nylon replacements are available, an aluminum one (with minor fettling required) from a different cap will also fit. Be a little bit sensitive with them, they were dumped by Buell when they started buying from the far east. |

No, Gmann's fix is a complete replacement of the plastic part.

I also need a fix for my gas cap. I've PMed Matrim and have not heard back in a couple of weeks. Both were probably a limited run. I wonder if the 3D printer plastic would hold up to the forces and fumes? |

Just contacted Gmaan, here you go, he just listed these now, I think. I can vouch for his part too. http://www.ebay.com/itm/291770913397 (Message edited by johnod on May 22, 2016) |

I received mine today. That was quick. It's a beautiful piece. I'm going to have to install it soon, I hope I can get the gas cap off this time! |

I had to remove the retaining ring to get the cap out of my X1W when mine screwed up. If you go that route, use a little Hylomar on the rubber gasket and Allen threads. |

Installed today. Works great! It was a bit iffy getting off the old cap. I must have cursed at it just right. Awesome fix. Don't wait till you can't remove your gas cap. |

+1 for gmaan03's permanent fix! $45 shipped. Metal to metal works better than metal to plastic any day! Jim2 is right on, don't wait. I didn't wait and I am glad I didn't. Use the Permatex Gasket Sealant Part No. 85420 which is equivalent to Hylomar on your rubber gasket between the cover and the tank (http://shop.advanceautoparts.com/p/permatex-gasket -sealant-85420/10644257-P?searchTerm=permatex). $9.95 at Advance Auto Parts (Message edited by mrred7 on May 31, 2016) |

Anyone know where to get a Gas Cap O-Ring P/N:P0156.2A for my X1? Same fitment for S1, S2 and M2. American SportBike and Buell Parts are both retired. |

The local dealer should be able to get one. I got one a couple years ago and it is still listed. |

If you have a tuber or Blast, and are going to keep it past your next fill up, buy Gmans fix. Just installed two, one in the M2 and one in the Blast. Perfect fit, easy install. Cant say enough good things about them. Really cheap insurance, and beats all the frustration of being out of gas with a stuck cap! |
