So a few months ago i picked a 1125cr with 200 miles on it. Owner had it cranked and warmed a couple times a month during its life span. How does this stator look compared to other bad ones seen? Everything look good or bad? I have the bike apart to get install a drilled rotor, and just not sure if i should replace the stator, voltage was fine on the dash.

I would use the old one if it don't have any black on it. Dark brown? |

go here for pix of a toasted one http://badweatherbikers.com/buell/messages/290431/ 722158.html?1380080121 ...the insulation on the magnet wire is shellac like...if it breaks down (the insulating coating breaks down (turns black)) and the wire shorts out...things go bad quickly at that point...from what you posted... the stator looks good....nice red copper color to those windings...put her back together and go riding...summer has arrived! |
