Fellow Buell brothers, I was trying to search the past threads on replacing my "back" shock and didn't really find anything, so I suppose it's pretty straight forward...I did look at the manual and it did recommend raising the tail portion. I was just wondering if you all had any pointers on this. Going to replace the shock this weekend. Thanks for the advice. |

if you can't hoist the bike up, put some jack stands under the footpeg brackets to lift it up. it helps if you have a floor jack so the swing arm can be moved into place for the bolt... |

Spin the rear footpegs around and they will support the jackstands. |

Many years ago I had to swap a shock out and I didn't even have access to a garage but there was a front yard available. I just removed the tank and bodywork, loosened the shock mounting hardware, put an old blanket over an old tire and gently laid the bike over. Unbolted the old shock, installed the new, picked the bike up and put everything back together. Today I have a garage, lifts and all of the rest but a tire and blanket will do in a pinch. |
