Morning all, new to the Buell, just bought a S2 thunderbolt, and have been sorting through repairs, cleaning and general maint. First: great site, it has been a wealth of information and resources (the side stand "bend" is a huge improvement). Can anyone tell me ( or photograph ) the way the rear caliper bracket sits in the swing arm? Mine has the stop bolt sitting on top of the swing arm , so it stops forward motion fine, but is free to rotate backwards. There is a notch on the inside of the arm, but I can't see a way to get the bolt into it without removing the wheel. What is the correct fit? thanks Derrick | ||

The ALLEN bolt goes into the slot in the swing arm. You'll need to remove your wheel to install it correctly. | ||

thanks Lance, wanted to be sure before I pulled the wheel. While I'm there I might do the wheel bearing too. | ||

Suprisingly I have seen this many times???? Do people really think that would be a working design from the factory? | ||

it definitely didn't seem right, I just couldn't find a diagram or image that showed how the allen fit into the swing arm, seemed like there should be a bushing.Thought I might have a missing piece or a poor mod by a previous owner. Judging by the paint worn off the top of the swing arm it has probably been run this way for a while. |
