The ultra liberals are some kooky people, man. Just like those PETA extremists that stop at nothing to save a squirrel. Lots of passion and emotion, but very little sense. It looks like I'll be doing an A2 in Colt SMG style. I like the idea of bare bones simplicity. I'll keep this one iron sight only. The wife and kid like this deal:  Not too bad, and not too pricey...but just not my thing. This with a fixed carry handle aught to be the ticket:  Something like this "micro CAR" might be a good compromise, but I'd rather have something more rifle-like.  Besides, I have enough quirky AR's...it'd be nice to have something ordinary for a change. | ||

Good advice. I once had a AR-7 that was Armalite built but over stamped Charter Arms from their first batch. Aluminum barrel with stainless liner. A collector item today. Now Henry makes them but with plastic barrel shroud & steel lining. A surprisingly accurate .22 that disassembled into it's stock. Note. The plastic & aluminum lined barrel models float folded. The all steel barrel models tended to sink. The only reason I don't have a FAL is I prefer a scope on that caliber rifle and only some models are easy to mount one repeatable without re zero. I hate remounting and re zero every time I clean. If iron sights suit your needs there are few more reliable and battle proven designs. M1a, H&K's roller locking rifles ( and Spanish contract versions ) and the 7.62 x 54R AK variations. Garands. What else? Is there a semi version of the M240? | ||

Those gatling guns are a little much for home D. Cool guns, though. I rediscovered the old school use of A1 and A2 grips as a VFG. I get that it's legal. I may have had some fun with it before, but common sense says that a bunch of it isn't a good idea. I was shocked when I saw it on a prepping show. Tannerite is fine if you're not an idiot trying to make a "cool guy" video. You shouldn't shoot anything metal at less than 50 meters with a long gun. Hollow point pistol is fine, just not round ball long-gun ammo. I know a guy who shot steel sillhouette targets at 20 meters with his M-4. He got lucky, a bullet fragment grazed his arm. He learned his lesson. | ||

That would probably be okay with frangible ammo. For close range stuff I'll usually use a 22lr of some sort. A lot less energy and less potential for frag/spall/ricochet. | ||

Not in person. The concept is sound. The looks are very Ruger-ish. I have no need for it, but the market could use some diversity. The medium frame six shot snub has been dead for a while. Of course, my choice in such a gun would be a little different.  | ||

The reviews on the new Kimber revolver look good. Have to see how they hold up in real world, I'm still cynical because of the problems Remington had with their new pistol. It got high praise in the magazines... then was a high probability fail in the world. Remington says they are bringing it back, fixed. | ||

It's almost customary to have an issue with any new production gun. The Remington R51 and Caracal pistols are a couple that were beyond a simple fix. One more week until I pickup the H&K and go shootin.'  | ||

It's a classic technique. Back in the late 1800's the D's passed a law forbidding sales of not military spec pistols to make them too expensive for the Negros.
