@Ratbuell NEVER said anything about buying a bike as an investment. But as a single father raising three kids on my own I have to think about the value of my money and what I spend it on. Maybe you and reep can afford to piss money into the wind. Who buys anything that costs thousands of dollars and does not think about the resale value? Seriously!!!! @Doz the last bike I bought new was a 2000'electraglide and service all my bikes. But when I buy something brand new I expect it to last at least a year and if doesn't. I have no problems letting the factory fix it. So if you buy a new dryer and the motor shits in the first month you are going to source and pay for the parts and fix it yourself rather then let them at no cost? Ok? Also seems like some of you have trouble reading. I specifically said I have no intention of reselling, but you never know what's going to happen to have to think about the value. If you can't understand that don't know what to tell you. Seems like you geniuses have it all figured out. Seems the more I think about it, the best thing to do is wait. With both Dan's statement about the warranties and Hybrid's about the dealers. Court's statement about hundreds of 2015s. And Doz's concerns about parts availability. (All of which I agree with, because they are true.) The best way to get a good deal on a 1190 is probably wait a few years for these used bikes to flood the market. And pick one up cheap thereby lessening the chance of losing your ass on the bike. If the 1125 s are any indicator you can pick one up for around 4K (got my 1125CR for 2k and my 08 1125R for 4K) which value wise is an obscene amount of bike for the money. Strangely my whole reason for the original post was to try and establish at what price would others start buying one of these 2015 SX or RX.(As Dan pointed out they are already a hell of a deal at 10k) (Message edited by Zhen13 on April 13, 2016) (Message edited by Zhen13 on April 13, 2016) (Message edited by Zhen13 on April 13, 2016) |

Zhen13 wrote: "Seems the more I think about it, the best thing to do is wait." Good advice if finances are an issue or if someone is new to EBR or Buell (like me). However, those with the means can do a lot for the brand and a potential EBR Dealer network by contacting EBR to commit to purchasing a new motorcycle. This is something that Buelliedan pointed out a while ago. You are in essence proving there is a market for new EBR bikes. |

I have a feeling if 100 people committed to buying a new EBR and put down $1,000 deposits with their local dealers it would make a huge difference!! (Message edited by buelliedan on April 13, 2016) |

Agreed, just looking from my perch something needs to shake loose. 100 bikes would be a kick in the pants. It's a heck of a bike. Ride one and you will want to make a way. Third party warranty the thing. Ship it in. Something's going to happen, something will shake loose, it's coming. |

Zhen13 wrote: "@Dan I hate to play devils advocate but as Hybrid said which dealers?" Bulliedan's original point was to go to a local dealer and see if they would be willing to carry the EBR brand. Putting money down up front would show you weren't just "kicking tires." |

@Zhen13 I believe Dan was being more general than than that. A former dealer may have a negative impression of the brand (lost money). |

Former EBR dealers would be a good place to start. If I could get 3 people to do that I would renew as a dealer. |

@Zhen13, @Buelliedan, Looks like I'm a little ignorant on motorcycle dealerships. Most look like they are chain stores (all carry the same brands). Prior dealers it is. |

A lot of dealerships are not allowed to put a new brand on their floor. They have agreements with there main brand (lets say Honda) that says they cannot sell any other brand on the same floor. If they do they will lose their other brand. I know this was the case in CO with many of the big dealerships that EBR tried to recruit before they came to NRHS. So I can understand a dealership not being interested in carrying EBR if they would lose the bigger brand like Honda, Suzuki, etc. |

My point about dealers was that with all this talk about new bikes rolling off of the assembly line and "email us for the closest dealer!"...and its like...Where are they (the dealers)? There doesnt seem to be any, and one that we know of (Dan) has decided not to do it (at this time, based on previous posts). Its look bleak right now and not getting any better. They need to get some bikes out, some dealers listed and show they are legit about this business |

Warranty is nice, but my concern is long term parts availability If LAP doesn't find an investor, what happens when the 200~300 work in process bikes are finished and sold, thereby recovering their investment? Fold the tent? |

I would strongly encourage the powers that be at EBR to get more pro-active with their social media presence and let folks know what is happening at EBR on a daily basis. Every new dealer they get should at a minimum be posted to their facebook page as soon as the ink is dry. And get at least a van with 3-4 bikes and start running around the country displaying them at shows, races, track days, etc. I would recommend hiring a full time person whose only job it is to do this like Cory used to do. And they need to establish a better relationship with the old EBR dealers. LAP is going to have to offer more if they want to entice these guys back. When you cannot sell a brand new 15 SX for $10,000 on e-bay word gets around fast and dealers take note. Deealers need to see at least a 20% margin on a bike sale and they need to feel it will sell fast at that price. 10% margins or bikes that will sit for months without selling will not entice someone to carry the brand. dealers also need to be the exclusive sellers for the parts, both the EBR AND the P&A parts EBR used to sell for the older Buells. By not giving that to the dealers it takes away a significant source of income that used to supplement the poor sales and low margins that EBR presented. I know there are folks reading this forum that say I am trying to sabotage the new EBR and that I want to see them fail. That is 100% false. Even if I am no longer a dealer I want to see the company succeed but I am afraid they will not if they continue with their currenrt business plan. But I am just a small former EBR dealer who doesn't know anything. At least that is what my secret admirers keep telling me!! (Message edited by buelliedan on April 14, 2016) |

Buelliedan, I wrote up almost the same post as you did last night, I removed it. These were some of my suggestions: 1. Attack the social media sites 2. Hold a try buy it campaign, Bring a van with bikes for test rides, follow the Moto America series. 3. Offer free tires for a year if you buy a bike 4. Offer free scheduled maintenance during the warranty period 5. Offer a track day experience with instruction if you buy a bike. 6. A buy back offer. If it is not the best bike you ever purchased during the 1st 30 days we will buy it back. Obviously this would be very limited. 7. Get the bikes out to the magazines for test ASAP. EBR/LAP need to hit it hard or they will go nowhere (Message edited by rsh on April 14, 2016) |

Those were just part of my brain storming ideas to help attract people to purchase an EBR. I feel they need something that will make them stand out, and by offering something different to get people interested. Most sportbike people don't really ride that much mileage wise, and as long as people aren't doing Cory West or Danny Eslick burn outs you may go through 3 sets of tires which isn't that bad. Again these would be limited promotions to get people interested. |

How about an OEM certified listing for motorcycle repair shops? A lot of potential buyers seem to be put off by the lack of options. Also, they could set-up an EBR channel on YouTube that showed results from demos, invited enthusiasts to send in personal riding videos, showed race results, repair advice, .... |

Frankly . . . if EBR played their cards right . . . they could develop a "phantom service network". Face it . . .we here on Badweb do about as good a job as you can do culling dealers. Have a board devoted to a dealer of choice forum. |

I'm sure there are some of you that may know the numbers for new motorcycle sales in the U.S. I wonder at what pricing range are the most sales taking place? Are the sub $10K bikes a big number? If so, the 1190's may just fall into a range that is above potential interest. |

Hyper bikes and sport bikes have a limited appeal right now in America. The big HD touring bikes and the foreign made adventure bikes are the hot sellers right now so the offerings from EBR are only going to appeal to a small market no matter the price point I am afraid. |

One of the problems I see with finding good servicing shops is the EBR requires a bunch of specialty tools that are not cheap. if you only expect to work on 1 or 2 bikes a year it is not worth buying the tools. |

The new glides (big touring bikes) are actually marvelous machines when used for their purpose. It would be my bike of choice for a coast to coast trip. I have owned a 2000 electra glide that makes 90 hp at the rear wheel for over 10 years and it is awesome for long distance riding where you just want to put on miles with the wind in your face and the radio playing while carrying 75 pounds of luggage.
