Something has started to happen which I find strange. 2008 Uly, 20k miles. After a recent engine rotate for routine preventive maintenance, cleaning up the TBI, IAC, intake seals etc, the idle has started to increase to about 2k RPM after pulling the clutch lever and engaging 1st gear. Idling perfectly normal around 1.000 RPM in neutral, also after pulling in the clutch, the increase happens only when putting her into a gear. Consistent every time, no random stuff. Also when stopping, stays around 2k, for then to quickly relax down to 1k again as soon as I find neutral. Before the rotation job I never saw this happen. I am not considering this a big "problem", but pretty curios as to why this is happening... Has anyone come across this, ideas? |

DDFI3 Yes. Wow, thanks for the link! So everything is as it should be on the Uly then. I have a 08 Firebolt too where this doesn't happen, and reading the link it makes perfectly sense, as I cannot start the bike in gear with the clutch pulled. Never bothered me much as I just put in neutral, but I guess I'll change the clutch lever switch now. The function does make it much easier to take off without stuttering. Much appreciated! Edit: I can not recall either of the bikes ever behaved like this. Guess the Uly started working properly after the IAC cleanup (was pretty filthy down there , and I'll give the Firebolt clutch switch some TLC, or possibly a IAC cleanup too. The switch on my 09-engined 07 bike has gotten "sticky" causing this symptom a couple of time. I gave it a quick spay of contact cleaner and worked it a few times and that fixed it. |
