Cool! I just purchased a Uly several months ago and love it. The EBR bikes look similar. I think your Colorado location is the closest one for those living near Ogden Utah (I looked at the old dealership list before it was removed).}}

Congratulations Dan! I think the lessons learned folder at EBR is pretty thick and you won't be disappointed.

@ Dan - regarding former EBR dealers and understanding you spoke with AF1, were there any thoughts of getting a coalition of EBR dealers to approach LAP in unison with the ideas, goals, and complaints? Maybe request a dealership meeting in East Troy?

Just thinking that 10-20 dealers approaching LAP has a louder voice. I could be naive.

The best "dealer coalitions" ( when they ganged up and went against HD) have never gone well.

Independent business people ...... REALLY are.

Unfortunately I still am not happy with the new dealer terms. Just doesn't work for a one brand dealer like NRHS

I understand Buelliedan and though I really want Erik and EBR to succeed, I'm happy you came to that decision. You've been a great Buell and forum supporter and I thought, oh no, when I read you were considering it after knowing how risky it is. I know a local, first go around EBR dealer very well and after watching how EBR left dealers out to hang with no marketing support and terrible, mostly non existent, technical support, from day 1, I'm happy to see you being cautious. My dealer, who was a big Buell supporter from the earliest days of Buell until the end, though they made little or no money on the Brand, and was an enthusiastic EBR dealer initially, will NEVER be an EBR dealer again. He got near zero support after signing on and then took a bad bath on 5-6 bikes when EBR shut down. Hopefully EBR will find a way but it will be extremely tough finding dealers after their past performance, sadly. I wish you well.

There's an old saying....."make and meet small commitments"

EBR has had bikes "rolling off the production line" for over a month. Where are they?

Over a month ago we were told .....

quote:

Riders interested in purchasing a 2016 EBR motorcycle should email their address and phone number to Info@EBR.com to receive the location of the nearest ‘Top Dealer’ carrying 2016 models. The list of dealers is quickly growing, and while website updates are still underway, email is the best way to get the most up-to-date information on local dealers.

To date . . . . None of the representations has had merit.

Look . . . . I'm as big of a "fan boy" as exists. I'm in no matter what..

But . . . . . Imagine how all this appears to a world of screwed over dealers and customers ....and Sportbike riders who, by and large, think "Buell is out of business"

Like I said last September .....this is going to be akin to climbing a greased mirror. The little stuff.......that costs nothing .....ya gotta get right.

without saying too much that could get me in trouble for the NDA I signed I think LAP just doesn't understand how expensive it is for a dealership to operate today. A salesmans salary and commission alone will wipe out the profit and then you still have the building mortgage, insurance, state liscense fees, floorplan interest etc.

By my calculations I would have to sell 3 EBRs this year before I could even break even and that was me acting as the salesman which takes time away from my "real job" at NRHS.

I think for LAP to make this work they are going to have to offer a bigger profit margin to the dealers before we see many sign up.

I hope they are able to do something to make it happen.

What brands to you sell that do give you sufficient margin Dan?

I only sold EBRs which make it much more difficult to do this as I have a lot higher overhead per bike than a dealer with say 50 bikes on the floor. The state and insurance charge me the same to be a dealer no matter. Just those 2 things alone cost me $4,000 a year.

I am not trying to be a whiner though I know it might come across that way. I just so want to do this but my financial situation says I would be a fool to do so.

I am just hoping LAP can work me a little more so we could both make it work.

Buelliedan,

If you still have your dealers license you may want to try used motorcycles. I've done very well with used bikes over the past 7 years.
