There's unrealistic expectations in pricing/listing... ...and then there's resistive pricing. I'd be hard pressed to ask for anything under 2 to 3 times reasonable just because I don't want to sell mine. |

Mike R bought the only REALLY valuable S1 a couple years ago when he bought the zero miles, fresh in the crate unsold S1 from a dealer. Until the passage of another 10-15 years .....most Buells are going to sell in the $3,500 range with the predicable exceptions. There's been a dreamer trying to sell an X1 for a while at something like $12k...... It, on it's best day, is a $5,000 bike. Depreciable assets make crummy investments. Although, with Volkswagen Micro-Buses selling for $150,000 ..... That might have been a good buy at $2,000. |

I think the Westwind is priced right. That 96 S1 is a steal. Very clean! The recent rebuild of my S1W cost me around 3k. Its only money. If it where meant to be held onto, it would have handles. |

It took until my microbus was fifty years old for it to cross the $20K mark in value; I bought it twenty-five years ago for $2K. Who has the time to wait that long for something that needs to be maintained to appreciate that much? Put the bike in your child's name and tell him/her to hold it until it is fifty. They were never meant to be investments. |

They quit making micro bus's about two years ago in Brazil... Who wants to go to Brazil? http://www.independent.co.uk/news/world/americas/l ast-ever-vw-camper-van-set-to-be-made-in-brazil-90 29140.html |

None of those bus's will live fifty years. In Germany, they built to last. My bus was my only car for twenty-two years out of that twenty-five. |

My 1975 FJ40 is worth almost 4 times what I paid for it. Near twice what it cost brand new. Still needs a paint job and interior work and it will be worth much more. Plus it is a riot to drive with or without the top. I have a good friend who bought half a dozen of the 13 windows vw's over the course of a couple years back in the 80's. He's sold almost all of them after restoring them to new or better. We used to call him a hoarder. |

As a European I can scarcely believe some of you guys are actually letting go of S1s for less than 10k. They go for over 10k (in Euros) over here. Of course, they are slightly less rare in the US, but still. If I had an S1, I'd hold onto it. |

Is ANYTHING cheaper in Europe? Beer is cheaper in Germany! Food - for the most part - is cheaper in Europe. Some European products are cheaper in Europe. Just sayin'... 1313 |

It's not the crotch-ness, nor the rocket-ness, that makes that S1 so valuable. It's the Harry-Donaldson chrome "gets you home" plated frame that does it. |

Is ANYTHING cheaper in Europe? In the UK, think in terms of 1x£= 1x$ when purchasing a Buell (against US prices). |
