Time to start planning this year's meet. Location is Little Switzerland, NC as usual. Skyline Village Inn will look a LOT different this year as it has received a new metal pitched roof with overhangs front and rear. More details will follow... |

More info on "Buells in the Alps 6": WHAT is Buells in the Alps? Buell/EBR meet (sleep/eat/ride/talk) WHERE? Little Switzerland, NC. It's located about on the Blue Ridge Parkway 50 miles north-east of Asheville, NC, and it's more-or-less equidistant from Charleston, SC (287 miles), Atlanta, GA (248 miles), and Raleigh, NC (234 miles). WHEN? July 29-31, 2016, Friday/Saturday/Sunday. Show up earlier if you want; stay later if you want. WHO? Any interested motorcyclist (we're not brand snobs), but concentrating on fellow Badwebbers and especially SC Buell Riders, 3%'ers (GA), and C3'ers (NC) WHY? In July, we'll all be in need of some serious twisty riding and some cooler temperatures! MORE INFO ON THE AREA: http://www.diamondbacknc.com/ - webpage on roads and motorcycle lodging in the area. Little Switzerland sits on the Blue Ridge Parkway at the intersection with 226A and 226B, which are both awesome roads. There are plenty of good twisty roads off of the Parkway nearby. HOTEL/meet central: the Skyline Village Inn (between Little Switzerland and Spruce Pine, NC). See above for recent pics. The place is getting a new roof and I wouldn't be surprised to see other improvements. Skyline Village Inn & Cavern Tavern 12255 NC Highway 226A Between Spruce Pine & Little Switzerland, NC Phone 828-765-9394 http://www.skylinevillageinn.com (on-line reservations available) It's a funky little hotel that was built back in the 40's. The current owners have restored it and are really nice people. The hotel has some really interesting history behind it. It has a decent restaurant, and a store with the best beer selection for ~50 miles. Room rates vary from about $80/night to $120/night depending on what location you want (balcony or not) and what discounts you can get. Tell them you're with the Buell meet and they'll give you a decent discount. Check their website for more photos. Here's the view off the front balcony: There are a few other hotels nearby (from "mom & pop" motels up to fancy resorts) and several major chain hotels down the mountain in Marion (17 miles south). Camping: http://bear-den.com/index.html - Campground nearby on the Blue Ridge Parkway; has tent camping, "camp cabins", and full cabins. Their website allows you to check availability and make reservations on-line. There are 2 or 3 decent restaurants within 2 or 3 miles of the hotel plus one in the hotel. Nearby Spruce Pine has a bunch of restaurants including a pizzeria/brewery. There are several locations nearby where you can pan for gem stones if you're into that kind of thing. There are plenty of places to hike nearby, and hotel owner Mike has several bikes for rent. He can even show you where the cool off-pavement areas are. There's no shortage of great twisties in the area whichever direction you head. MAP OF AREA (Skyline is near the upper right of this loop): I expect to get T-shirts from YeeTees Design again; he's a Bueller and has made the T-shirts for the Dragon meets for several years and made ours on short notice last year: I'll be able to give him a little more notice this year so hopefully they'll be in cooler and even cooler. Link to thread on last year's meet: http://www.badweatherbikers.com/buell/messages/37/ 753978.html?1454946627 I have no idea what'll be going on with EBR by July; hopefully something good. We had EBR demos at BITA 4 which were a huge hit. Stay tuned for updates. |

Hey Alex, it's about time your schedule allows you to bring your butt down. Looking forward to seeing you and the rest of the crew. It's always a great weekend. Just give me a ping if you can join me for the ride down. |

Tom- Glad to hear you're coming. The balcony view is worth the little bit extra it costs. Stand by on the T-shirts. I still have to get with Kevin on a design for this year. He whipped out the design for last year's shirts (which was great) in a couple of days. He said he can probably do even better this year with some advanced notice. I'll post more info as design proceeds. |

Looks like Skyline is full that weekend... Any suggestions for alternate arrangements? I guess I can just unload my bike and sleep in my van, I have a camping shower I can deploy pretty stealthily. |

You sure no rooms area available? If so, that's a first. I was just thinking if you looked on line, the no rooms might show up because he's already set them aside for us. If you didn't call, I'd suggest you try that. (If you did call, I may be in trouble!) Bear Den Campground is ~5 miles away on the Blue Ridge Parkway. Big Linn Lodge is ~2 miles away on 226B. The Diamondback Lodge is the "motorcycle specific" part of the Switzerland Inn, ~5 miles away. The Switzerland Inn, is in the same location, but it's probably pricey. Next closest would be the town of Spruce Pine; there are several "mom & pop" type hotels there. It's <10 miles away. |

Tom- Thanks for asking. Mainly, spread the word. Especially if you go to another Buell event or if you meet other Buellers at random. I'm very interested to see what the new EBR dealer situation is; maybe we'll get lucky and have a dealer not too far away who'll be willing to do demos again. I understand RPM, who did demos at BITA 4, went out of business. I'm sorry to hear that, as they helped make that the best meet we've had. |
