Is that just loss of power or it's running on one cylinder? BTW. I'm not implying that this is the cause but I've also heard of a case when one of the injector connectors was loosing contact at high temperature. Worth checking, easy to fix. But I would lean more towards just overheating (Message edited by Hunger on March 16, 2016) |

Dan_M: here a few snapshots of my spy settings on my 07 xb12x. temp limits, and fueling parameters. these are what the ecm is loaded with very few changes by myself.
has your cel ever started flashing when you have gotten hot sitting in traffic? |

Hunger, i think ti is just power loss. What i felt is something similar to comparing the same bike in two different situations: one when you ride the bike solo, and the other when you ride the bike with a passenger and loaded cases. Also, as you said, worth checking the injectors connectors. Sagehawk, thanks for the photos attached. As it's not possible for me now to compare with the settings from my bike, i looked on the ecmspy website at the user guide section. I noticed that at "temperature limits" and "Fan setup" there are big differences compared to your settings. So i guess that what i see on the website is only for informational purpose? And no, i've never seen the CEL light flashing when i felt that the engine was really hot. Again thanks for replies, i really appreciate. |

Dan_M: there are a lot of years and models that have been supplied and the versions are many. I have left all safety features of my 0712x alone and have elected to change some of the cold start enrichment features and the fan on (key on) features. I live on the gulf coast at sea level so I don't have the altitude and the temperature extremes to deal with. I have felt that my cold start is too rich as I have that fuel smell when first starting the bike. wife has commented on it several times with a disclaimer. ( you know my sportster doesn't smell like that!) yeah, it hurts only a few minutes until I can smoke her off on the highway. That's why all of this is a work in progress. |
