Considering either a Drummer or Jardine pipe for my new Uly. While researching the pipes on this site I found a lot of folks weren't happy with the quality of the Jardine, but most of those posts were from 2005. The cost is similar, I found a jardine CF for $470 while the Drummer is $400 + shipping both ways. I'm leaning toward the Drummer but I'd love to hear from some folks that are running these pipes and maybe some that have used both. Thanks! |

in my personal opinion, the Jardine sounds raspy and gets worse while it falls apart, while the drummer sounds better, but don't trust those rivets either. i think the periodic re-packing is it's a shame that i didn't buy a micron system and a latus can while they were still available. I can't say enough good things about Keda Designs. American Sport Bike has a comprehensive exhaust system shootout with Dyno results that is worth the read. |

I believe the standard Drummer (which is based on the stock muffler) can still be used as a jacking point, which is a handy feature to retain. Plus Kevin is a Buell enthusiast, a really nice guy and we should support little guys like him whenever we have the opportunity. |

Jardine tends to fall apart after a while, in addition to being loud and looking out of place on a Uly. The aluminum version is cheaper than the carbon version if you are looking to save some cash. Drummer is made from your stock exhaust, it retains the ability to lift the bike from it unlike the Jardine. It still is loud, but not as loud as the Jardine. I like the sound of the Drummer more, it sounds more "right". Drummer still rusts as it reuses the stock can, unless you pay extra for the stainless version. |

I like my drummer... low mellow bellow. Seems solid. Came with the bike. |

Drummer all the things! Jardine is a terrible performer on a 12, though not bad on a 9. Drummer performance is almost identical to stock, but with a much better sound. The design really holds the midrange torque, whereas the Jardine does not. I've dynoed both. |

Thanks for the input, are you guys running stock ecm's with your pipes, or did you flash them or get one from the guys at IDS? |

Does EBR have the ECM listed that works with the stock exhaust? |

I build my own tunes with Tuner Pro and ECM Spy, since my bike is an 06. Planning to migrate more to Tuner Pro once I get a larger Windows Tablet for my RAM mount for datalogging. Looking at a Surface Pro 3. Currently my 7" Winbook TW700 is too small to realm be able to read and use Tuner Pro, on the fly or otherwise. |

I had a Drummer on mine for a while. Nice quality piece...but the drone got me. I got sick of the noise, and put the stock pipe back on. More bottom end torque, smoother power delivery, and oh that glorious peaceful quiet. And...just to poke at Court...I do have one of the rare-as-hens-teeth EBR ECM's for an '06 with a stock muffler. Truly electronic artistry. |

I'll help poke too. I had the EBR ECM for stock pipe in my 08 XT when I sold it. |

Thanks for the input. - You folks that had the stock pipe with EBR ECM did you notice improvement in power/drivability? - I talked with Kevin Drummer last week and he says that his Uly with new ECM is getting 50mpg because the engine runs more effiiciently. Any one here seen that? |

I routinely get 42 out of my '06 with just short of 35k miles. EBR ECM, stock pipe, zero mods to the powertrain. And I was noticing today - must have been good air or something - it really sprang to life anytime I crossed about 4500 rpm. Second riding day of the season for me now that the overnight-ice is finally finished. I've had the ECM for quite some time now, and have been thrilled with it. |

Mileage seems to be highly variable, I get about 30mpg. '08 12,000, K&N, Jardine, EBR ECM for Jardine. I switched to the the XB9 gearing last season and didn't see much change in MPG. |

My '06 Ulysses rarely gets less than 50mpg. A few times it has dropped to 48mpg. Stock pipe and ECM. |

pedalpimp, did you change the primary gearing or the belt sprocket? |

I'd like to get a new Drummer and matching ECM but can't drop $800 on exhaust right now. I'm considering an ECM for stock exhaust or possibly an ECM Spy and doing some fuel mapping, which would be new to me, I've never done anything like that before. If changing the ECM really makes a noticeable improvement I could spend the $300 for that. Is it possible to download the EBR ECM maps from the web and download them to my ECM via ECM spy? |

If I told you I've gotten over 65MPG multiple times you likely wouldn't believe me. XB12 with Micron and matching tune. All of my Buells have seen improvements in fuel economy after switching to a race ECM. The bikes are really lean from the factory, the race ECM gives them proper fueling, in addition to other changes depending on your year like better idle control, easier starts, better fan control, and other little tweaks. |

A local guy just upgraded his 883 Sporty to 1200cc and changed the belt sprocket to a larger tooth to up the gearing. He has the old 27 tooth belt sprocket available but not sure it would work on my Uly. If possible it seems cheaper and easier than changing the primary chain/sprocket. |

EBR has all the ECM's listed for $244, but when I inquired to buy one they said they were out of stock and directed me to IDS. Is there any way to get the map on my current ecm or do I have to spend $300? |

Changing belt sprockets will not work on a XB due do the lack of proper adjustment for tension and belt length. |

A 27T front sprocket is stock size for an XB anyway. |

I got the EBR "stock pipe" ECM soon after it first came out. I seem to notice it revs a bit quicker (by Buell/H-D standards anyway). It feels a little "livlier". It also pings/knocks more on acceleration. Pinging was greatly reduced (but not eliminated)once my static timing was reset (which eliminated pinging on stock ECM). I have not been able to measure any consistent MPG or other benefits on my '06. Bike has about 35k miles on it. |
