So you are saying there is a groove, the diameter of one clutch plate, around the interior circumference of the clutch bracket? Have you posted this or searched under the applicable section of the knowledge vault on this board?

Help needed in Portland area As I mentioned in previous posts, I am engaged to a lovely Oregon girl. But unfortunately I am in Sydney Australia. We are trying to get all over here to Sydney and I have been a bit lost in finding and international shipper, in fact dang impossible to organise such a thing from here. If you know of anyone who is an international shipper, please email me. Also have use of a truck and a good hand for a day to assist in moving my partner and household effects from Portland to Forest Grove, which is a (hopefully) short stopover, before immigration to Australia. This has been extremely stressful and difficult to organise such things from Australia, and I can sure use a hand about now. All and any help will be appreciated. madgaz42@optusnet.com.au MadGaz

S1Hooliman, sorry to hear about your clutch problems. Roc is the clutch man. I doubt you need to replace the whole basket, but what do I know. Yeah, you got it right. I'll never sell the M2. She is sooo sweet. The XB9R, I'll give it some more time, but I don't think she's the girl for me. I think I'm \gonna sell/trade her. I'd like 2 M2L's for her. Straight up. She does sound and go great tho. But more of a race bike than I need. |

I think you nailed it ROC "So you are saying there is a groove, the diameter of one clutch plate, around the interior circumference of the clutch bracket?" except of course it is the clutch basket and not a bracket, but yeah that is a great discription of it.. Nah I just posted it here knowing you or Shotgun would see it and reply.

Hotel Reservations! I just booked a couple of rooms at the Lakeside Motel in Woodland for the Friday night, July 16th. and was informed that very few SPLASH participants have booked. She was wondering and waiting for our bookings. They love us! I was also told that other parties have been inquiring about booking that weekend. If you havn't booked your room at the Lakeside Motel and are concidering it, do it now, before she books another group. Lakeside Motel 785 Lakeshore Drive Woodland Ph: 360-225-8240 Cheers FunJimmy |

OK, I got a call from Stu yesterday. He told me to sit down. The Wonderful People at Harley-Davidson, inc. have decided to do me a solid and replace the cases, flywheel, oilpump, and PAY the labour. This is an amazing turn around for Betty. The parts are ordered and I can hardly wait. I also found out that some Betty supporters have sent some monies to Deeley's! I don't have your names yet, but the green shall be boomeranging back around soon! I'M even getting $ back. Maby she needs some jewelry. So anywho, thanks to Stu for figgerin' it out, and getting it together, Ray2k for the road trip, Bob and Deb for the garage space for the winter, and as for the rest of you, I WILL see you on the road this year! Yea Baby! sooner! Galen |

Portland Braggers. We usually ride 3rd Sunday of the month. We had the Oregon 250 down as the April ride, but since nobody showed but me............ Show up Sunday 10 AM at Destination. Whoever comes last is the ride leader. Spudman, that almost guarantees you the job, baby. |

well, I still have not heard anything back from harley and no one has posted anything in the clutch section about my issue. So once again I will not be able to ride with you all. In fact i am getting to the point where I think I will just fix my jetski and have that be my entertainment for this summer...cause I dont seem to be having any luck with this harley thing....maybe my kawasaki will do better..

1996 S1 Service Manual 6-12 – primary drive inspection and repair – #7. Check the slots that mate with the clutch plates on both clutch shell and hub. If slots are worn or damaged replace the shell and/or hub. In thinking about it - if the gouge were wide enough to allow a plate to slide sideways and block the motion of the clutch it could be a bad problem. A picture would still be helpful. You called it a "harley thing" - well there is your big problem, you went and insulted the poor thing. Listen to Bob - Triumph clutchs last forever. |

All the paperwork is done! Numerous screw-ups. One at each step, pretty much. But all done now. Riding back and forth to work when its sunny. Last Sunday's opportunity passed while I solved a pinched vent hose problem. This Sunday is now committed to searching for a new (used) mini-van, since my old one barfed out its transmission yesterday. And next weekend is moving day. Great timing! Not a lot of riding time for Sportyeric this month! But initial impressions: why are all you guys so slow on these things? Its kinda boring how stable this thing is compared to the Sporty. Where's the fear factor when it just goes where-ever you point it? Needs more power, though. I'm thinking the Sporty's Lightning cams aren't being used right now. Everyone around my house is expecting me to tear the thing apart right away, so I might as well not disappoint them. A rainy day project in the new garage, perhaps. |
