Thanks fellas. I'm slowly getting it the way I want it. Painting the plastics back to white is on the list soon, the tank is riddled with bubbles. It looks FAR better in pics. I've acquired the front/rear White Lightning decals, need to source the tank decals.the Also contemplating an X1 swingarm swap. JV - I know, I've been meaning to order some tab covers, it appears Al may not have any more, he's pulled them from the site. Butch - Right? I hate that eyesore of a battery. Wondered if I could adapt an X1 cover to fit? (Message edited by sparky300 on February 22, 2016) |

Quick question... I have a penske as well and was wondering what kind of clamp (other than a hose clamp) are you using to mount the reservoir to the frame? Who is this Marc character, and what is his special mount? |

Mikey, that's exactly how the res is currently mounted now, with hose clamps, I hate it, it looks like amateur hour with those on there. Marc (Purpony) is a skilled engineer/fabricator/machinist that has some custom mounting clamps that are currently in the final phase of production. Here's his website: http://www.purpony.net/buell.html |

Cool bike and mods. Regarding the battery position, I believe there was a recall to the Lightning series that relocated the voltage regulator to the right side of the frame near the battery and turned the battery with the long side facing forward. The battery winds up hardly visible from the side that way. |

Marc - Thanks, more mods to come in the near future Darryl - Thanks, looked at info on the battery tray recall, appears the kit is NLA, prob have to rework the existing hardware or fab something, I'm keeping my eyes open |

Sparky 300- That bike looks great. How did your route your breather hoses? I'm getting ready to do the XB covers on mine too. (Message edited by 34nineteen on February 23, 2016) |

I used a tee between the front/rear PCV then ran it to the rear and finished it off with a breather hidden behind the tail plastic, no catch can. You may or may not be aware you prob will have to clearance the front rocker cover left front corner about 3/16" to clear the frame. |

I heard about that problem and saw that page before, but for some reason I can't open the pictures to get detail. When I do my XB rocker conversion, I will probably be doing my swingarm and rear isolators, so maybe that will afford me some room? I'm probably going to do the same breather routing you did. Thanks for all the info!!! |

I never had any luck opening the pics in that link either, but it's an easy mod anyway. It wasn't about having enough room to install the front cover on mine, It went on fine but I wasn't comfortable with the 1/16" air-gap between the frame and cover so I shaved that corner and polished both covers. Fyi I bought a bunch of 1/2-13 x 1 chrome button head bolts to fill the old breather holes in the head (10 was cheaper than 2), unless you're just going to use threaded plugs if you need some PM me and I'll ship you a couple. |
