This is the second time the end cap came loose. I stopped at a hardware store and bought some wire to prevent it from coming off all together. After the first time it came loose I cut off about 3/8 of a inch off the muffler part to get some fresh metal to pop rivets to. Kind of lucky it didn't come completely off.

Those rivets are huge and look like stainless. You can't use stainless rivets in aluminum. If the hole you drill isn't the perfect size and your rivets are tight they will work loose. |

1. Double up on the number of holes. open up the bad ones to the next size rivet or plug weld the bad ones and drill them out for maintenance... (Message edited by dannybuell on February 10, 2016) |

I had the Barker fail a couple times on the race bike. Finally the housing fell apart. Lost a whole weekend of racing as a result and more than likely cost me the Championship in the ST class. Replaced with an Buell race can. I did not have an issue on the road bike. |

Blew mine up on the track and it took a nice chunk out of my rear tire. Since then I switched to the EBR race system |

Mine came apart when trail breaking into Canada corner at Road America. I thought that I hit oil at first. It slid the rear over quit a bit. Hey Mark, are running WERA or CCS this season? |

Trying to get some parts for my Barker, but I am having a hard time getting through to them. Their phone voice mail is full, no response to three emails. Does anyone know if they have gone out of business? |

My Barker's end cap is still in place but I removed and reinstalled it while repacking the muffler a couple thousand miles ago. Drilling out the rivets was a pain in the ass--next time, I'm sending the muffler to Barker to be repacked. Or I'll keep thinking about Dean's RT3. |

I may have a Buell Racing Daytona exhaust available for sale soon. This style muffler is designed to attach to standard diameter headers. It is all Stainless Steel and is very good on torque. I need to check with the person that gave it to me before selling. If anybody is interested, contact me. |

I've lost the tip and core twice on mine. Back to stock. Debating if I should order a new tip or not. |

Lost 3 tips on my Barkers due to the end cap bolts stripping out (3rd time was after drill/tapping new holes as well). Plus quiet cores and a good amount of packing material. Got the 4th one bolted through with double nuts on the inside, permanent loctite on the threads, and JB weld over the nuts and between the end cap flange and the canister. ~3k miles and it's still on solid. Finally. Looking to get a new exhaust now as it looks like the rivets might be giving way. There is exhaust soot showing up between the end cap and canister body. But man do I love the sound... |
