I can get a great deal on a nice 97 M2... It was converted to a rear chain ....The chain is a new looking O ring type, the sprockets are in fine shape. The bike will be an occasional rider,no more than 1000 miles a year. Will the chain be any problem other than the typical chain maintenance that I am very familiar with... I hear the stories how the lack of a cush drive will tear up bearings...Thanks and Marry Christmas. |

Never ridden one with chain conversion, but if it's truly a GREAT deal, and you don't like the chain, simply convert it back to belt drive! Good luck! Photos??? |

Chain is fine like Jolly said it can go back easy enough. I would take a good look at the swing arm pivot block and surronding areas to make sure it was converted correctly and the chain has not rubbed anything apart! Also if it is converted to chain my thought is it probably has some othervtasty upgraded parts the chain is ussually not the only conversion |

Plenty of people looking to do chain swaps, find someone willing to do a straight swap if it bothers you. |

For a 1000 miles a year, o-ring chain wouldn't be worth worrying about, much less converting back to belt. Maintained, the chain could last 20 years. |

If the chain and lack of cush drive isn't going to cause bearing wear problems it'll stay as it is Thanks for the info |

Chains work great. O-ring design means no lube slinging up against your pants leg. If it has several thousand miles on it and the sprockets show no signs of wear, yours is set up right. Buy and enjoy. |
