I want to find some soft bags for daily use on my S3T. My right bag is starting to crack where the rubber bumper touches the bag and there is a hole worn in the same place. So I'd like to have something to use for daily riding and small trips where the hard luggage isn't needed.

Since the mounting rails for the hard bags is still on it I assume that most soft bags would fit nicely. Does anyone have any suggestions?

JT,

I did a modified version of the 4th mounting point option on ATC. Check here: http://www.americanthunderbike.org/techtips/s3bagfix.php

It is pretty straight forward. I removed the rubber stopper and now use it as a fourth mounting point. I am also going to reinforce the inside of the cases as demonstrated by Al Lighton here: http://www.badweatherbikers.com/cgibin/discus/discus.cgi

I hope this information helps. I know it is not a direct answer to your question.

The Buell M2 bags are good stuff, but it's hard to go wrong with any of the name brands out there . . .. . Chase Harper Stealths are nice if you don't need a lot of room . . .. . I've also had great luck with the products from Eclipse, RKA, and Wolfman, and would buy from any of them again

Al,
I've seen both of those fixes and I was living in denial, but it seems that I have no choice but to try them.

I'm pretty capable with tools and such but I will need some additional equipment to make that 4th mounting point happen.

The cracks in my bag radiate out from the hole that was worn in the right bag from the bumper rubbing on it. I'll have to fix that with epoxy as well before placing the metal plate over it.

Too much work for such a small part of the bike!

Bomber,
Are the M2 bags Buell's branded soft bags? I've never seen them.

yessir, right the firstw time . .. . . like obsoleted, but may be in a dealer's somewhere's (if memory serves, Hal's may have had a set early this year . . . .. . . )

all that said, they are NOT S3 specific, and not wonderful enough to pass up an easily available and possibly more cost effective alternative

like here

http://www.aerostich.com/riderwearhouse.store

next to a good Buell dealer, these folks will wind up being your best scooter friend

I've had very good luck with the Chase Harper stuff I've bought - quality stuff with a no-questions warranty; if it breaks ... for any reason at all, they fix it. I've bought through Aerostitch - their prices are good, not the lowest, but you get what you ordered and it get there when it was promised.

While looking at the aerostitch site I came across this one. MotoFizz Sport Pac CAT. NO. 9028. It looks like exactly what I want for my daily commute and short rides.

Thanks for the link Bomber,

I'm going to order the bags that I listed above. I I doubt they will be here for the nexy BRAG meeting at Uke's but I should have them for the ride to Appleton.
