Bike sat up 3 years, did total fuel system and carb clean. new batt. started and warmed up. went for short ride. bike started bogging or loosing power. then stopped. While trying to restart it backfires hard through exhaust. once it restarted but would only ideal. then killed after 30 seconds. I have spark to both plugs, I have good compressor. (9800) miles on bike. and fuel is right. I feel its ignition issues, but don't know what ohms to look for for trouble shooting system. plz help. |

Robert-- 4 things immediately come to mind: Fresh spark plugs (visible spark isn't necessarily good spark) Battery & ground cable connections-- clean & tight? cracked or rotten intake boot & seals? Lastly-- does your carbed S2 have a vacuum petcock? If so, try running it on 'prime' position, if it runs OK, or has no 'prime' position, may have a bad diaphragm, or vacuum line. There's a few things to check for you. |

Thanks for the input, I tried fresh plugs same result. new battery and yes cables clean and tight. while rolling the engine over I sealed off the carb, and checked for leaks at seals good tight seal. also removed and inspected later the same day and they look good. petcock has on/off and reserve. the tanks has been removed, as well as petcock and inspected, clean as a whistle. I will order a new ignition module mine has some small cracks in the sealant so maybe that's what caused it. it acts as if its out of time, and I know better then that so its getting bad information when to fire. (Thinking out loud) |

Actually sounds like carb is plugged again, I would make sure you have fuel in float bowl and that slow jet is clear. |
