Spoke to the receivorship lawyer yesterday and that is exactly what happened. They could not come up with the money so had to back out. I do not know what happened with Bruce Belfer though. Hopefully he answers that soon. | ||

The JS article above makes it sound like Liquid Assets made the only bid this time around at 1.6 mil. I thought Bruce was in the running as well, but the article only says he was opposed to the sale to Liquid Assets and nothing about a bid. Maybe Bruce still hasn't got his financing in order. Even if Bruce could purchase the remaining EBR assets, a huge amount of cash would be needed to become operational. Other than the Buell community, there seems to be little to no real interest to save an American sport bike manufacturer even at a fire sale price. | ||

On Facebook, Bruce stated that nobody from the newspaper was in the court room and that the article was inaccurate regarding that being the only bid. | ||

The JS article, inaccurate or not, It still sounds as though Bruce does not currently have the means to acquire EBR's assets. | ||

Bruce's initial post on FB after the auction stated that he had the high bid for EBR up until 5:30 the day before the auction. I get the impression this is not really an auction as you'd normally think of one, but a slower, more deliberate process. At that point Liquid Assets came in with a higher bid. As I understand it, each bid has to beat the previous bid by some minimum amount. Bruce didn't have time to go back and secure additional money to beat LA's bid before the auction close. It sounds to me like Bruce got "sniped" in the auction process. | ||

Unfortunately Bruce didn't come up with the original $2.25 mil and this time he couldn't top $1.6 mil. Knowing this, why was Bruce conducting business as if he owned EBR? something is strange with this as well. | ||

Something definitely seems strange is an understatement, But one also has to wonder why no current makers like Harley, B.R.P. or Polaris seemingly have no interest, with the current market trends showing renewed interest in not only sport bikes but naked bikes of all sizes and adventure bikes (which none of the mentioned companies produce) as well as entry level bikes I would think one of those companies would at least approach Erik Buell about having him work for them ,after all he is an incredible engineer as well as a great person who could do wonders for the industry with some real backing behind him. | ||

I'm not sure Erik would be willing to work for somebody else. You have to understand Erik is 66 y/o and let's be honest he has put himself and I'm sure his family through a lot of stress through the years trying to make a go of it. Might be time for him to just say screw it and enjoy some time off for a change. | ||

Having recently lost my job because the owner wanted to do something else, I am having a hard time trusting others with the rest of my career... Now what to do next. I sure hope this mess gets cleared up soon. The longer this drags on, the less likely anything good will come out of it. | ||

On Facebook's EBR 1190 owners group page, they seem to be putting together a crowd funding exercise with a number of people pledging money in the thousands of dollars to save EBR. | ||

Unfortunately I already pledged thousands of dollars when I signed on the be an EBR dealer. I cannot afford to lose any more. Bruce, It is hard to keep the faith with all of these setbacks. I am still willing to sell EBRs but without a product to sell that is kinda difficult. | ||

In my experience, nothing worthwhile is easy. Anything I've ever gone after in my life has made me prove myself worthy of it in one way or another. This is no different. I got into this deal to win it, and I'm not going away. It would be unwise to discuss too much of this while it's still in play. But this'll make one hell of a story when it's over. | ||

It's definitely a story. A company that once had a perceived value of upward of $20 mil and eventually someone may walk away with it for less than 10% of that valuation. On top of that there seems to be very little interest. Is this really seen as a nonviable business venture? | ||
